Harish from Mussoorie, India recommends this hotel Posted:  Room Quality: 5/5 Service Quality: 4/5 Dining Quality: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5

We stayed as a family of 4 in two rooms over the weekend. The property in itself breathes opulence and old world colonial charm. The wooden furnishings seem to be solid teak wood or mahogany and are wonderful. The grand dining room is a phenomena in itself along with the lovely chandelier at the entrance. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the basic rooms which we took had a lovely bed room, a powder room, a well appointed bath room and the back door opening out to a pristine verandah. Here are a few con's which I observed: *The in room coffee maker in Room 23 was damaged and was immediately replaced when brought to the attention of the front office. *The flush in Room 24 was not working properly which was again fixed immediately when brought to notice. *In a property of this caliber, I'm assuming all of these things should have been checked prior to the room being rented out to guests? I'm assuming this was an oversight. *When we visited the grand dining hall for dinner, I asked the usher if Ala'carte' options were available, and she said yes they were, whereas the head waiter contradicted her statement and said it wasn't since there was an event being hosted at the hotel and hence guests would have to partake of the buffet. I should hope restaurant staff should be calibrated before informing the guest? :) *In the course of the buffet dinner, I wanted a repeat of the strawberry tart and I was told that it was finished. I had counted only 6 covers since we went fairly early for dinner at around 8 PM? A five star running out of a second helping in a buffet after feeding 6 covers was a little surprising? The saving grace was Kuldeep who promptly came over and inquired and said that he could get us a tart if we waited for a few minutes, but I wasn't in the mood by then. *Kuldeep who was part of the restaurant staff was indeed a star and he was constantly uet unobtrusively present taking care of our smallest of needs. A fantastic employee and an asset to the property. *We had mentioned that we were celebrating 2 special occasions, namely my parents 35th wedding anniversary and our short yet sweet honeymoon together when we made our reservations on travel guru and I also informed the reception about this. I was a tad disappointed that there wasn't even a single special gesture from the hotel for any of these occasions. If I am asked if I will stay here again, the answer is definitely a yes for the property, but I do hope they resolve the teething service issues.

Wonderful Stay! Wonderful Stay!

We were part of a group of about 70 people. The hotel managers, chefs, and all the staff were incredibly polite, helpful, and welcoming. The food was fabulous, the bed was very comfortable, and room was good. The property has so much historic charm, and yet can accommodate modern guest needs. We would stay here again, and highly recommend it!

Bombay travels booked us at this hotel. As soon as we reached the hotel, we were greeted by pleasant n warm smile n a warm welcome drink!!!As we arrived late evening we could not see much of the hotel. But next morning we were delighted to be in the small balcony for a cup of tea n watch the lovely mountain view( cud not sit there for long as was very cold). Two dinners at the hotel were exceptionally good n live music on the last dinner was a treat.Big spread for breakfast too(Medu Vedas were delicious ) It's a heritage property. Lovely lawns outside our rooms with bone fire (chargeable)was set for some guests the night we arrived. Above all the each n every staff was not only helpful but warm n courteous too!!!! Waiting to go back!

A must stay!!!! A must stay!!!!

One of the best places to stay in Mussoorie. Close to the market but yet feel secluded in the serenity and peace of the mountains. Its a heritage property converted into a hotel. We went there during diwali time and it was an unforgettable experience. Their service was exceptional. As its a heritage property, everything had a very English touch to it, from the rooms to the lobby to their dining room. One thing I loved about this hotel was their food spread. Their breakfast and dinner buffet are a must try. You feel lost looking at the choices they have. As this hotel is up a hilly slope, the walk probably uphill gets tiring for the elderly. I do recommend the hotel to have a shuttle service at least for the elderly to walk up the slope. The hotel has a nice lobby-cum-passage outside the rooms where you can have your nice cup of morning or afternoon coffee/tea while reading a book or a newspaper. A nice small activity room will keep your boredom away with TT, carrom, foosball and a few gym equipments to keep yourself fit. A must stay at this hotel in mussoorie is highly recommended!!!
