Summer holidays Summer holidays

by Sunil T on September 4, 2016

Its been a great place interms of relaxing yourself from the crowd and noisy environment. Only issue there you may find is there is no night life for kids and family. Its a calm place to be in. We would like to be here again sometime after retirement.

peace everywhere peace everywhere

we have been to Landour last week[may -june].i was mesmerised by the beauty of the place. a very calm and serene place to rediscover yourself. we stayed at prospect point guest house [it is almost at the top of a hill] the guest house is very well maintained . and the staffs are like will never feel out of the home .though they have limited food offer but what they cook is wonderful and plenty.we walk around the woods everyday. have had coffee at char dukan and some bakery items at ladour bake house. prakash store offers the homemade jams and cakes.we wish to visit the place once again.

Prospect point ! A walk in the clouds !! We visited in May 2016 with friends and their family. This villa is at the topmost area of Landour and is extremely serene and calm. There are very few car movements in this area. The villa has an unmatched breathtaking view of the mountain ranges and on a clear day you can get a view of the Himalayan ranges. The view of the mountains and valley at sunrise and sunset is amazing ! The villa has a small lawn and a Sitout where you can enjoy your coffee while absorbing some fresh air and reading your favourite book. The property is almost 100 years old and takes you back in time. The chef and the staff is helpful and good. The villa can improve on its maintenance . The wifi was bad but with a place like this it's best if you are not connected to the world. The place is recommended for all who are looking for a quite holiday and a peaceful getaway. We loved our stay !! Arpan

Great location in Landour Great location in Landour

by Singhal_Nishant on October 29, 2015

Stayed here for 2 nights in late October. Was well warned by Karan to carry woolens. The hotel is at a fantastic location - at one end of the main thoroughfare (so less cars) and right on top of a mountain (so best views). We were very well taken care of by head chef and maitre d' Mr. Bhandari. There isn't much choice of rooms, so you will either get the large split-level room or the even larger house with all amenities and rooms attached. Only downside - Wifi is poor in the room I stayed in and the hotel gardens and general outside area needs sprucing up. Great for a long weekend!

View of barren himalayas on one side and hills with thick vegetation on the other side! View of barren himalayas on one side and hills with thick vegetation on the other side!

Probably the best place to stay in Mussoorie if you are keen of views though a little far and hard to reach. It is a steep 6-7 kms climb from the messy Mussoorie city. But Landour is the place you need to stay in Mussoorie. On a clear day you can view the snow capped himalayan peaks and on an October evening, can take a glimpse of "Winter line". From the main road, you have to take few steep steps to reach the cottage, a little hard for elderly to do frequent trips to the town or take a walk on beautiful, cement roads of landour. Lal Tibba view point is just a kilometer and half from the cottages and probably the cleanest view point in Mussoorie. The cottage itself is a heritage property, clean and with friendly/ helpful staff. As the cottage was under renovation, my family was upgraded to heritage house and they did not charge me for the third room too. Thanks to Karan Nangia who handles their reservation from Delhi. Another person very helpful was Bhandari. You have to pre-order food and get fixed menu of roti, rice, salad, dal, a veg/ non-veg curry. It is bit pricey Rs.250/ Rs.350. If you love to walk around half kilometer, Devdar Woods offers a larger menu including some good italian pizza and Lasagna (avoid pasta) along with Indian veg/ non-veg menu. If you don't have your own vehicle to go to Mussoorie town, you get local cabs for Rs.300 one way. Cars available for whole day for Rs.2,500 - Rs.3,200. Thought it is (taxis) a bit rip-off all over Musssoorie. The fire place is the best to relax on a cold evening. They charge Rs.250 for fire woods. Breakfast is complementary and very good with mix of parathas, eggs to order and bread. The only thing missing was availability of hot water 24x7. There was water pressure issue for first 2 days of our 3 days stay and it was hard to cope up without hot water when the mercury was low throughout. They resolved it on the last day however. There is a shop nearby (M/S Prakash) which sells everything you need and you don't need to carry or stock anything.

Demo Trip Cottages offer a better view. Heritage house has only one room with good view but you can stay there for the experience.
