I had booked this resort via Stayzilla even though everything was confirmed, when I went there the person in charge told me that the stay is not booked and we are not accepting anybody from Stayzilla. I just called Stayzilla and told them the issue I faced, they called up the guy and even sent him a confirmation mail then also the guy didn't agree saying if you want I'll book a room from our end as there is a room but we will not entertain anybody who booked online. After that Stayzilla cancelled my stay and gave me a better stay instead. The point is the resort is not tourist friendly and also they don't entertain anybody who booked online, on top of that the resort itself is a shabby place... Thier reception only was a dull the whole resort is not at all maintained. But the rate is not at all low...The place doesn't even deserve a single star. Don't go there at all...If you go there, go at your own risk.
A greener place near city and best place if you are bored of ac restaurants. Cool and green environment. Food and ambiance of restaurant is average. Resort could have been maintained better. Visit this place if you want to get lost in a greener environment near city.
Very very superb place to start with the family in the weekend. All the children and adults will definitely love the place because it is so beautiful and excellent.Everyone will enjoy the colourful flowers and plants which are always fresh and fragrance.
Chitravana Resort on Mananthavadi road is worth the drive from city. A resort, the bamboo grove adds to the ambience. We had been there for dinner, good food & service. Certainly value for money. Corporate events, parties , functions are catered to. Lots of greenery adds to visual appeal. Soothing piped music/live performance is a bonus. They have a big TV screen for those wanting to watch.
It was by accident we got to know about Chitravana Resorts, Mysore. During the long week end (Aug 13th-Aug 15th), we planned to visit Mysore city and were looking for a comfortable place to stay. Most of the resorts and hotels in and around the city seemed to have booked to their full capacity. And this resort came to our rescue. Chitravana Resorts is not really near the city, but it is not really far off either. The resort is on the road towards Heggadevana Kote (HD Kote) on the Manathavady Road. Many of the visitors would prefer to stay in the city, or perhaps at resorts nearer to Sri Ranga Patna or KRS Dam. We traveled as two families with a small child each, with the main agenda being only a visit to the Mysore Zoo. Our plan was also to stay in calm and comfortable place, if possible very much close to nature. This was also a reason why we avoided hotels. Chitravana Resorts fit all our requirements. The resort is spread across a huge piece of land, with trees and plants giving it a "forest like" appearance. The visitor is welcomed by a water fall and a fountain, behind which lies thick woods, hiding the main areas of the resort. The road also is laid out in a circuitous manner through the forested area, giving the visitor a feeling that the property is really huge. On one side are the individual cottages, which is also very close to the beautifully designed swimming pool. We opted to stay in normal rooms, which are on the other side of the resort. The rooms are all in a single building, which resembled a college hostel block. These rooms all have air-conditioning and hot water facilities. Each room is also provided with an intercom and wall mounted LCD TVs. I found that the channels offered were very limited. It was only Kannada, Telugu and a few Hindi channels which were offered. Each of these rooms also have a balcony, which over looks the trees/greenery at the resort. The rooms may also be a good option for large groups of visitors, where as a single family may get a better ambiance (and silence) if they opt for the cottage. The resort has a restaurant offering mainly Indian dishes. For the quantity of food provided, the price seems to be slightly on the expensive side. The resort also did not seem to have complimentary breakfast. The resort has a nice open stage, with good audio equipment. On week ends, there would be a live band playing and tables are also laid out for the guests. As the night falls, and with the "forest" all around; a candle-light dinner in this open area would be a good experience (even without a music band). The swimming pool is beautifully designed and well maintained. It has separate areas for adults, toddlers and small babies. It was with great difficulty that we managed to ween away our two year old daughter from the pool. There is also a small children's park with see-saws and slides which could keep the kids occupied for a while. Some minor improvements would make Chitravana Resorts even better. It would have been better if each room was provided with hot kettle, tea bags etc. Visiting families perhaps could make their own morning tea/coffee rather than reaching out to the kitchen which is a bit far away. Putting more TV channels on the offer may also be a good idea. The service at dinner time seemed to be a bit too slow. Perhaps increasing the staff during holidays/long week ends may improve the turn around time. This resort is ideal for visitors who wants to stay in a calm & relaxed atmosphere, yet be close enough to Mysore city so that the city tour can also be done easily. It just took us 15 minutes (by car) to reach the Mysore Zoo. Chamundi Hills too was just a few more minutes away.
