The Place - We decided on this place over other 4 star hotels in Mysore because this is a palace. It is a good experience to stay like a royal once in lifetime. The palace per say is good. The dining hall is awesome with shades of royal blue everywhere. Some of the rooms have that royal touch with four poster beds and antique finish. Our room in older wing however was smaller in size and bathroom had signs of wear and tear. Food - The quality of food is strictly okay. As compared to quality and spread of breakfast available at other comparable hotels, the spread here was limited and quality just about okay. The staff is not rude but not best of the breed too. Especially restaurant staff is curt. Others are trying to get money out of you by offering a guided tour of Brindavan Gardens after their duty etc. Who needs a guide to see these places? There was some movie shoot going on when we visited so could not capture real beauty of the palace in the camera due to stuff littered all over. Sad to say that we were expecting little more than what we got even though the experience was not bad. May be ITDC should not manage the palace and give it to a private company to manage. That will make the difference.

We stayed in Lalith Mahal Palace Dussera for 2 days. Good Things : 1.Pool side rooms are excellent. From all rooms you can view famous chamundi hills.Balcony is fantastic.Hill view and pool view is simply best. 2,The building is very grand and aristocratic. You feel like being taken those good old days. 3.We can see Mysore palace lighted beautifully from lalith mahal. ( only 7pm to 9pm ).It was breath taking view. 4.Pool side garden is beautiful,We took morning stroll there. 5.Gardens in front of lalith mahal is also good Not so good things : Food is of average quality. Overall its a very good hotel with courteous staff and worth visit.

The bathroom was like a regular 5 star hotel look. Very clean, had all the shampoos, moisturizers, shower caps etc. interior is very good,i have seen in many film. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveler who wants to stay in the palace.. in mysore.

Grand but faded Grand but faded

by MommaDeels on February 11, 2017

We stayed here for just one night. We were given a very palatial room which retained its original decor and certainly had all we required. The bathroom had an original bath but I really did not have enough time to work out the tap combinations required to get it to work! When we arrived a large wedding had just completed and they were setting up for another wedding reception and the large ornate reception rooms inside were well suited for this. We prefer to stay at Heritage properties and like the grandness and the combination of Indian and British decor of almost one hundred years ago. We understand that this is now a government run hotel and this probably reflects why the hotel looks rather tired in certain areas and why the staff could do with a little more training. We ate in the restaurant where the food was good but we did feel lost in there as the room is very large and grand and only two other couples were eating. Breakfast was very average. There was a good size pool but there was only one sunbed!! Plus the steps were really hard to get in and out of the pool. The gardens were neglected and the outside decor needed some improvement.

Beautiful building with faded glory Beautiful building with faded glory

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Lakisha Mahal Palace and when we arrived, they were dismantling the props for one wedding and setting up for a wedding reception. The gardens were a bit unloved and the grass needed cutting and generally tidying up. Pool and changing rooms have not been upgraded for years, but were clean and functional. Although there was only one sun lounger to be found! Service from the staff was good, although reception was somewhat disorganised. We had dinner in the magnificent dining room which really felt ostentatious. Again the staff were attentive and we didn't feel like they were expecting a tip as in many other hotels. Our suite room was spacious and comfortable although the bathroom was very dated but quaint. The grand staircase of marble is just magnificent and a must for photos. If you can live with the quirkiness of the place this hotel gives you a real insight on how the Raj must have lived back in the day. I gave it four stars more for the sense of history and the building itself.

I had visited this hotel for official purpose. Behaviour of the staffs was good. The hotel was located in the centre of the city. Transportation facility was available nearby the hotel. I had booked this room by online. Staff of the hotel were good and friendly and they provided welcome drinks. Check in check out was done on time. Service provided was on time and was good.

A terrible waste of money - do not go under any circumstances A terrible waste of money - do not go under any circumstances

by HalleMaisie on February 8, 2017

Stayed there for 3 nights at this supposedly 5 star property - Oh what a waste of nigh on four hundred pounds for a 3 night stay in a supposedly 'heritage room'. The room was spacious and clean and the whole place looks lovely at night - but in the cold light of day - the rooms are festooned by wire, there are junction boxes next to the lift with cats cradles of live wires protruding from them, the lift itself is antiquated and could do with an attendant as the doors are dangerous and very old fashioned, the bathrooms are large and spacious with enamelled baths that came from a couple of centuries ago and do not work, there is no hot water in the afternoon evening, the safe in the room did not work and we were just told 'sorry' with a shrug of the shoulders. The brand new shower in the bathrooms did not work and were made of cheap plastic panels that moved as a whole when we tried to turn the taps which was a weird experience and we were eventually reduced to splashing about using a bucket of tepid water. The plug points in the room are all substandard, and we had to hand in our phones to the front desk to be recharged. The bar is locked up for most of the day and so is the gym and the swimming pool doesn't seem to be used at all and is a bit dirty. The four poster bed in the room is festooned with cheap satin hangings that haven't been ironed properly and are creased. When we complained about the lack of hot water we were told to run the taps for a couple of minutes - and then ? surprise surprise, still no hot water. The wifi was only available in the lounge, and even then extremely patchy. Staying at this hotel was a terrible experience - we assumed that it was because Mysuru was a small, sleepy town, but our friends who stayed at other properties not far away had no such problems. The whole place is musty, and some of the carpets are threadbare and dirty. The only plus is that there were no rats or insects - or at least we did not see any! None of our complaints were taken seriously, indeed there didn't seem to be any managers who understood what customer service was, and we soon gave up and waited for our stay to end so that we could leave. All in all an awful experience that we wouldn't care to repeat if they paid us.
