Location Rating: Excellent -> Hotel is located in the heart of city within a couple of kilometers from bus stand as well as railway station -> The locality and street is very nice and clean -> Getting auto/taxi for sight seeing and shopping is easy, some places are even walkable Ambience Rating: Excellent -> Right from the red-stone laid exterior view from the steet, through a tunnel like passage I reached a reception. As I headed to my room in second floor, I could not notice the well in the center of builiding. All rooms open to the circular corridor sorrounding the well. From the corridor, through the green colored net, I had good view of the restaurunt in the floor below. For the first time I felt some one having good taste have designed a budget hotel in India - > Rooms are not not spread across rectangular corridor as usual, but along the a circular corridor(there is circular wall central to the whole building) -> Restaurunt had a very nice ambience with seats spread indoor as well as on terrace. All places was dark which added to its ambience, with green colored seats and and not much sunlight coming in -> They have a small souvenier shop and library in ground floor Service Rating: Very good -> Room service was prompt and good. Food was served within 15-20 minutes. -> There was a nice welcome kit and water bottle for each guest. -> Room had TV, AC and Phone. For the first time I also saw a mobile phone charging station in room :) There was a small pocket in bed room which kept the mobile charging station and all remote controls. All switches are labelled and accesible from bed without the need of getting up. There are two phones - one intercom and one for cal outside hotel(obviously chargeable) -> There is a free Cloak room service which was very helpful for us on the day of checkout, as we could checkout in the morning, keep all luggage in cloakroom and went out for some shopping with out luggage :) -> There is Swimming pool on roof top, which I could not rate as I did not use -> Parking : Dont know as I was not travelling with a vehichle. -> Cannot comment much on House keeping as I stayed for one night only. Bathroom was spacious and there was cold as well as warm water through out -> I checked in a few hous before their standard check-in time for which they did not charge naything extra :) Restaurunt/Food Rating: Good -> Food menu is very vast with lots of veg as well as non veg delicacies. In non veg, there were chicken, mutton, pork as well as fish - and all were tasty. They also serve booze. Areas of improvement They could have offered free wifi Overall rating: very good

It is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in Mysore. It is very close to the Palace and interiors are done in Indian theme. There is a no tip policy, every one works with a smile. The food is great, but limited Indian choice of food. I originally planed for a days stay but extended it later for its luxury and value for money.

I had booked a deluxe room with this hotel. Location: Excellent location, just very near to the famous Mysore Palace. Rooms: As i entered inside the room,i was taken by surprise by the quality of the room & the furnishing, all the items inside the room were meticulously designed for either the business traveller or for a leasure traveller. Dining / Restaurant: Excellent food and an elaborate menu, the service was good, a uniquely designed ambient restaurant. Room Service very good as well as quick. Summary: A real good experience of staying in this hotel, i would strongly recomend this hotel for a budget traveller, worth evry penny spent here. I also request the hotel management to maintain the quality of the rooms. Carpark: The hotel does not have a covered car park, but a good security is provided so that the cars are safe. Front desk: Looking at the hotel front desk,i was a bit fearful on the quality of rooms, the check in was smooth,a welcome kit was also provided to all the residents of the room.

Average for a top line room Average for a top line room

Good location close to shopping , great staff, not as clean as I thought it should be. Furniture seems little soiled. Bathroom not at par for cleanliness. Faucet was very dirty. Bathtub had stains. We paid for the best option for a room and that's why I was more disappointed.

Good choice in a good location Good choice in a good location

I have stayed here several times and found it a decent place to stay. The rooms have thoughtful and useful facilities such as safe, fridge, tv, hairdryer, weighing scales (?), clock, toiletries, notebooks, labelled switches ( useful in India when there are so many switches!), various chargers. There is a popular restaurant/bar and a very small pool more suitable for sitting than swimming.

Very different experience Very different experience

This hotel has an awesome location, very close to both the railway station and the famed Mysore palace. It has every facility to make your stay comfortable and I absolutely loved the atrium style. Worth a try at least once!

Oh dear! Oh dear!

We were recommended to use this hotel by friends who said it had been a wonderful oasis almost the chaos of Mysore. So obviously their experience was different ours. The appeal, as explained by our friends was the pool and draught beer at 60rps a mug....both of which existed and the beer, at least, was fine. The pool which was, indeed, very attractive and located on the very pleasant roof garden but was almost completely in the shade so it felt like an ice plunge pool. The building is well maintained if a little 'kitch' and the location, opposite a park and near to the Palace is good. The bedrooms are ok, but they do not live up to their over exaggerated prices and categories, luxury, super deluxe etc. I would probably re-categorise them as barely acceptable and average. The restaurant is very busy and popular, mostly with tourists, but I'll write a separate review of our experience there. The main issue is that the front office team seem to have had a 'charm bypass' and forgotten their true purpose which I believe is to receive and welcome guests and to guide them through their stay. We were told the hotel was full, but that we could have an expensive (average) room for the first night, but the second and third night we would have to move to a cheaper (barely) acceptable room. This was fine and we booked into a room which was ok but hardly 'luxury'. We phoned down to check and we told '100% sure it is a 'luxury' room but that we could stay in that room for all three nights, so we unpacked everything on that basis. Hmmm, big mistake ! The next morning the receptionist rushed up to our table at 09.00am and told us we needed to move rooms 'now' despite check in/out not being until 12 noon and the fact that we were told we could stay in that room for our entire stay. It wasn't a great room, but we had just unpacked! Reluctantly, we agreed and went back to our room and immediately had another call saying the porter was coming up to help us move. We moved into a pokey room with a window onto a blank wall 2' away and then we noticed our previous room door stayed open and unoccupied for the next two days! Our other encounters with reception were not much more encouraging. One morning we asked if they could tell us which bus to catch to the bird sanctuary nearby that they advertise. They answered to the effect that they weren't the bus company so how would they know! So helpful...not!! Conversations with them were laboured and monosyllabic where was strange for a hotel that deals mainly with tourists. I guess the attraction of the beer and the pool are more important than customer service. As a direct comparison, we had stayed in a basic hotel around the corner for one night before coming to the Parklane Hotel. It had cost a third of the price, but the rooms were just as good and the welcome was far more pleasant. So, I wouldn't advise against staying at the Parklane, the basic requirements are in place, but some customer service training would certainly not go amiss and if I go back to Mysore again I'll choose the basic hotel...
