We went to Mayiladuthurai during May 2013 and even before reaching, my wife got viral fever. As soon as we checked in at the Hotel, the first thing we asked for a docotor or a 24 hour hospital as we reached the hotel at around 10 p.m. Immediately, the receptionist guided us to a good hospital where she could get a decent treatment. The hospitality of the hotel is worth mentioning. We stayed for there for one day. The room was neat and clean and the room service was excellent. Since we need hot water for taking pills etc., they readily provided the same at all times, night, morning or afternoon. It has a vegetarian restaurant also and the food is of good quality. However, it seems none of the guest is taking any food from there since the restaurant is almost emply at all times. Overall a good and decent hotel with excellent service. The hotel is just opposite the main bus stand and easily accessible.

We were impressed by the pictures on this site so much so that we booked it for 4 nights from 23 to 27 March 13. For around Rs. 925 all inclusive we thought was a pretty good deal. The Rathemeena Volvo bus which we boarded from Chennai dropped us pretty near the hotel and from there an auto took Rs. 60 to reach us to the hotel. And that is where the fun ended. The Hotel, located in close proximity to bus stand and market. Although the hotel area was big but as soon as you stepped into the dimly lit lobby you knew you came to the wrong place. On seeing the lobby my wife insisted on seeing the rooms before we checked in. While she was doing that I decided to check out the restaurant and the bar. The whole facility was right out of a Dracula movie. Dull and depressing. The hotel promised large well appointed rooms with TV, Hot water. A restaurant at the ground floor serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. The attendant who took my wife to show the rooms took along a room freshener. Once you enter the room she got t to know why it was needed. The room literally stunk. It had a foul smell like what you get in very old buildings where only pigeons live. She checked out the bed sheets, the towels and blankets that were provided and like someone here said, it matches the ambience of the hotel. Right out of a Hindi horror movie. The paint pealing off the wall and the cob webs at the corners added to the misery. As expected, the room freshener didnt help to improve the situation in any way. Instantly my wife came running to the lobby to tell me she wouldn't be able to spend one hour in the room leave alone a night. The front office man Mr Inbaraj, when informed of the situation, didnt seem to be surprised. In fact it was he who called up the adjoining Hotel Pams and got us a room booked. Of course it was at 3 times more the cost but to us it was like an Oasis. Such a situation was created that we would have spent 10 times the cost just to get away from this hotel and so we were more grateful for the change and didnt think about the hugely added cost. The staff at the reception were very cooperative. They even provided a person to carry our luggage to the hotel Pams next door. It was also through him that we got to use the service of Mr Sendhil and his AC Indica car for all the 4 days of our stay for visiting the Nabagraha temples for which we had come. My advise to travelers going to Mayiladuthurai is to stay away from this hotel and go to the Pams and not waste time, energy and patience.

The property is located at very prominent place. Exterior made us to believe that we are entering a 60 year old property without being taken care. Observation of Room 1) Bedspread were dirt, not sure if it was washed. 2) Wardrobes were not maintained. 3) Paint in the walls were missing. 4) Bath room door was heavy and lock was imporperly placed, needed two people to lock and open the door. 5) No Hot water until 07 AM, that too very slow. The room had every thing but all of them needs a make over. Service was OK.

Situated in the centre of Mayiladuthurai, this is a huge property with ample parking space.Rooms are large and so are the bathrooms but the maintenance is absolutely PATHETIC. A good hotel gone to seed! The blankets are frayed and the bed linen carried stains. In the bathrooms you only have buckets and mugs. Hot water starts coming after around 10 minutes only. Old, noisy window air-conditioners, but thankfully they worked. The biggest letdown was the restaurant. When we went their in the evening around 7 PM, there was no one there. The boy who had set up our room came over and asked our orders. Hardly any dishes available and the boy seemed happy to guide us to the restaurant in the new Hotel Pams, adjoining this property. We beat a hasty retreat, somehow tolerated our stay for the night and checked out by 6.30 AM. Phew!
