Excellent position beside the Naini Lake. The rooms are very cozy and the bathroom are very specious. The lawn is the excellent position to view the entire lake. Restaurant is also located in a good position to see the lake. Food is delicious. At the last point Mr. Debendra Singh is a very good room attendant.

Rooms are clean. Location is brilliant.food us good, staff is hospitable and polite but the only problem is living in this properly is living under british rule. If lunch timings are 1300-1500 hours and unfortunately if by any chance u check in late or any other reason you do not order in their timings, u will remain hungry, even if ur 5 mins late to order. Secondly if you have an elderly member or anybody who has problem climbing stairs then kindly refrain from booking this property.
A place of British era.

Located bank on the Mall road, Elphinstone has a history of over 80 years. The room layout is of the bygone era with large room, adequate seating area and large toilets too. The upkeep of the building is good and you get the feel of a well maintained olden elegance. The place is literally overlooking the lake and the view is magnificent. The staff are courteous. There is WiFi available and works fine. If you are not too bothered for modern amenities then this is the place for you.
The management could take care and change the mirrors in the rooms as they have gone bad.
All in all a great place by location and view
Not a modern place but carries the legacy of the old world. See the pics.
As I like these kind of historical places... I had a happy stay here
When you enter Nainital from the bus stand entrance the first hotel you see after the army guest house is the hotel elphinestone located on the upper road. The entrance to the hotel opens on the upper Mall Road. To locate the hotel requires no effort at all. One can see the name emblazoned in big and bold letters at its entrance and on the wall near its entrance.
The establishment is a fairly old as i can recall it being there when I had visited Nainital for the first time more than ten years ago. It is a three star hotel giving an open and clear view of the Naini lake in front. The total number of rooms they have is one thing I'm not sure of. But it has its own restaurant inside the hotel. All the rooms on the first floor facing the lake share a common terrace. While those at the ground floor open to their vast lawn with chairs to sit on in the mornings for a hot cup of tea.
Coming to the rooms, the price differs according to the type of rooms. The interiors of the room are cosy enough to bring in some comfort. The living room in front of the bedroom is big enough for extra bedding. The bathroom is decent. Not something of great standards.
The room service is quite good and the staff is helpful and cooperating.
I would mind recommending this hotel but the prices, you would have to conform as they tend to change depending upon the season
