A peaceful experience in the Himalayas A peaceful experience in the Himalayas

by trip_glyseri on June 25, 2018

Located in the small village of Sonapani, Leela Orchard is a wonderful homestay for nature lovers and a great escape from city life. It is located amidst orchards of plums, peaches , pears and apples, with great view of the Himalayas if the weather is clear. There are four rooms, so you are guaranteed a peaceful stay. The rooms are clean and spacious with a beautiful large terrace were you can sit and gaze at the Himalayan peaks. The food is delicious, seasonal fresh fruits are served as compliments. The service is excellent and the host is always ready to help. There are some beautiful walks around the homestay for the adventurous. A stay here is an experience to remember and you will definitely want to come again.

Home in the lap of Himalayas Home in the lap of Himalayas

Leela Orchard is a beautiful cottage in the sleepy village of Sona-pani in the lap of the Himalayas. The property provides an enchanting view of the Himalayas in clear weather (although I couldn't see the peaks as it was cloudy during my stay). The place is just beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are clean and well furnished with attached room-sized toilets. The owner, Mr. Manvendra Singh is very helpful and treats you like family. He is a well educated gentleman with high-class etiquettes. The food is very delicious, one can't get such food in hotels. The food itself makes the resort a must-visit. The resort has orchard which is laden with seasonal fruits. You can reach out and pluck ripe, juicy fruits. The hospitality makes it feel like a second home. The best part is - it is not a commercial location like Shimla or Nainital. It is an untouched territory and so has managed to maintain its peaceful spiritual silence. One can easily goto Mukteshwar or Almora or such nearby places from Sona Pani. Leela Orchard is a must-visit place. Given a chance, I'd definitely love to visit it again.

A comfortable stay amid the lush greens! A comfortable stay amid the lush greens!

This place is a must-visit if you are a nature lover. Extremely spacious rooms and bathrooms that are size of a room! The environment here is homely. The family that runs the orchard is extremely hospitable and never even once failed to cater to our needs. The morning breakfast comes with a bowl of fruits that are grown in the orchard itself. The vegetables that are served to you are also grown here in the orchard. The food cooked in their wood-fired kitchen is something that will surely staiate your taste buds. You can easily stay her for more than two days and explore the nature trails around the orchard. Do not go during monsoon.

Great, comfortable stay in the blissful arms of nature Great, comfortable stay in the blissful arms of nature

I visited this place in June with my family. First impression the resort was very neat. The rooms were spacious and the view was excellent. One could hear the birds chirping even in the sunny hours of the afternoon. The place is well managed by Manvendra and family, who recieved us with warmth and hospitality. In the morning, Manvendra showed us around the place with great enthusiasm. The food was delicious and homely, with aloo paranthas, Kumaoni raita and assortment of chutneys and pickles taking your taste buds to a whole new level. If you're a nature lover, this place should definitely be on your bucket list. It's scenic and serene, and even though there were 3 other families staying, we felt like we were all alone. Fruit laden trees dot the entire resort and we treated ourselves to juicy peaches and sugary plums that we plucked ourselves! The place soothes senses and one can spend real quality time with family amongst the heavenly mountain air. And to top of all this it feels just like home!
