We booked to stay as we were taking an international flight the following morning which meant we had to stay in what they call the Domestic Wing - what a shambles.
When you arrive to T3 departures you go to Gate1 and into the Visitors area and go to the Hotel phone and call reception where after 3 calls speaking with 3 different staff members being told each time that someone was on their way and each time I called had to give them all my details again - very frustrating!
Then once the guy arrived you go through a series of checks with no explanations and after all of this we are escorted to the lifts to the hotel on level 5 where you are scanned yet again !! The Holiday Inn staff member who seemed to be based in the departures area was not really interested Nor helpful.
The reception is a drab old counter with staff that obviously don't want to be there as they were not friendly at all! After the check in we went to our tiny little room where we notice a sign in the room stating that no TV channels are allowed due to airport restrictions and DVDs available at reception !!!! Where was this on the IHG website - though we note TV channels showing on the TV for the staff in the reception and also in the restaurant.
As we had not eaten we made our way to the uninspiring restaurant, whilst the staff here were reasonably friendly and the food
The rooms are not sound proof where you can hear all the noise of the airport and the crying baby next door , the soap and shampoo provided cheap dispenser soap and shampoo and only 2 bottles of water and no mini bar !
We have stayed at many airport hotels around the world and this is the worst ever and shame on IHG for branding this a Holiday Inn Express - I will recommend to the corporate office that the Area GM seriously looks at the service and standards as this experience is very disappointing and unacceptable for an international branded property.
For the price you pay at this very underwhelming Motel - I recommend you book one of the other many hotels which are located at the entry to the airport precinct and a very quick taxi ride and no traffic jams to be concerned about.
I reviewed the prices compared to what we are paying and noted we could have stayed at the Novotel, Radisson and the Pullman Hotels cheaper and for the JW Marriott only $30 more.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL - IT IS FRUSTRATING TO FIND AND ONCE YOU
DO IT IS VERY UNDERWHELMING, NOISY AND OVER PRICED AS FEELS LIKE A HOFH
I rated this very good primarily on its convenience for the airport. The hotel is by and large a typical Holiday inn, so you know what yo expect. But as a traveller with a night stopover in Delhi - it is just sooooo welcome to get to your room and not have to take a taxi to get into to town or to your hotel. If you fly international and are connecting, you just go to the transit area and get to the hotel from there, no exiting the airport. Unfortunatelu Air India ( in the UK) told me that I had to pick up my bags (even though I was transiting) so I had to exit the international arrivals and the try to find the hotel.
I must admit is is very badly signposted and I had to wander about till I found someone who knew what was going on. If this happens to you, go to the 2nd floor of departures, walk to the far right hand end (when facing the airport) and there is an international travellers lounge. There is a phone in there to call the hotel and the send someone down to pick you up. There are a few security checks to go through but the guy does it for you! You can only stay here 1 night, (by law) - they will not let you spend more than that.
As for the hotel. It is modern, the room is smallish but ideal for a one nighter. Nice comfortable bed, desk, chair, mini fridge, tea/coffee makings, hangong space, a few drawers amd more light switches than you know what to do with. The toilet/ shower is modern.
All in all a comfortable enough place but the convenience is what it is all about!
Free Wifi and free breakfast!
Booked 2 rooms 5 days before arrival. We arrived at 7pm to T3, had to of through lounge security to get to phone that directly dials the hotel. I picked the phone, gave my name, and was told I had to walk over to the international side/lounge to use that phone. waled outside and over to the other side of T3, the international side, and picked up phone. The phone was broken. not even a dial tone. So, I made an international call with my cell phone. I spoke to the same lady, who now told me that there were no rooms available. She said there is a domestic side to the hotel and an international side. The domestic side was full, and that we would not be allowed to enter the international side as it was the night before our flight. She said you have to go through customs to reach the hotel and that you cannot go through customs until 3 hours prior to one's flight. She did not offer to help us. I Just kept saying that despite our reservation they were booked and we could not stay. They did not offer to help us find another room near by; they offered to cancel our reservation free of charge. This left us stranded at the airport after 9pm scrambling to find a room somewhere in New Delhi.
While we were on the phone the same thing happened to 2 other parties of travelers. They received the same response and no help.
Nowhere on their website does it say that there are 2 sides to this hotel. It says that the hotel is located in T3. I called Holiday Inn Express customer service and they were shocked this practice. They said at the least the hotel should have helped us find a room in New Delhi. They are going to deal with the hotel directly.
I cannot stress enough how awful this experience was, as the hotel is located in the airport I never even spoke to someone face to face.
Horrible customer service. I think the hotel was over booked and they come up with some bizarre explanations why you cannot stay there even though you have had a reservation for 5 days.
Well its a Holiday Inn Express. So stayed because I had a stopover due to connections from a remote part of India. Arriving domestic side the guy on the Holiday Inn stand was more interested in his phone than me. Here is the problem. I needed to be International side. Unlike Nick932 no one came to help me despite me asking for help. Fortunately I had my boarding pass. However, I had to really push to be let through security as flight was not for 18hrs. When I found the hotel - they could not find my booking (Aaagh). Nor was I asked if I was a IHG member. But it got resolved. Hotel has spa facilities. Very few guests. A beer with taxes was 600Rupees. Hmm but the sign as you enter the hotel said drinks half price in happy hour 5-9pm. I ate in the food court. Room was fine, clean with tea/coffee making. Breakfast was cooked to order and included in the room price. Staff helpful and attentive. But I will try to get better connections next time.
I checked into the hotel so as to avoid the traffic chaos
The portering , reception staff were kind , polite and helpful
The hotel is claustrophobic and the dining room was dull and soulless.
Once in the hotel one feels trapped as one cannot leave without an member of staff escorting you
Overall not good value for money not an establishment I would revisit
