COMPLAINT..............I'd called the hotel on the day of travel to confirm the booking. They confirmed the booking. Our flight reached Delhi at 23:45 and we were picked up to the hotel. We had the biggest surprise when we reached there. We were told that there was no room available and we would be put up in Hotel Sita that was close by. Middle of the night with a small baby we did not have the strength to put up a fight. The room we got at Sita was dingy compared to the one we got the next day when we came back to Ajanta. On the day we checked out we were told that the "ladies dress" kept in our room was missing. We had an argument with the staff as there was no such thing in our room. The "ladies dress" are kept for foreigners to buy and they were of the opinion that we had taken it. We volunteered to have our luggages checked in front of the hotel manager. The hotel staff then decided to drop this once we volunteered. We took a Delhi site seeing trip from the travel desk. The driver took us to some place he said was Delhi Haat and it turned out that he had taken us for a ride to some other handicraft store. Apart from these regretful incidents the hotel is decent.
WRONG VENDOR As promised Pick up was done from the airport even though flight was delayed about 1 hr. While reached the hotel and about to check-in it was a bit delay in the room allotment in the front desk of Hotel Ajanta. Finally as per the directions of the front desk people, a room boy took me out side and reached a hotel named "New Delhi Hotel" which is behind Ajanta. It was not discussed with me about this change at check-in. When I asked there was no proper reply from both hotels. They said that all are same group and rooms are old in Ajanta new in New Delhi Etc. I was not satisfied with this reply. But In the NewDelhi hotel room is good service is good. But people booking through online should always treated this as cheat. Because When u booked in Hotel X You should have discussed or informed before changing to Hotel Y. So I need to re consider my options to use Travel guru for the second time. I am looking forward a at least word of "sorry" from the people responsible for this. I am also waiting for the cash back to be settled as agreed in the booking
RATE ISSUE - I booked 2 rooms online through Travelguru. On reaching Ajanta hotel at about 8 pm, we were told that there were no rooms in Ajanta. The person at the desk appeared to be offended by the fact that we had booked through Travelguru. He said that he was not to be blamed for the lack of rooms at Ajanta as we had booked through someone else. Having paid the money, we had little choice. We were escorted to another "hotel" named Sweet Home that is still under construction. There was no lift to our third floor and the staircase was unfinished. There was a strong smell of paint. One room was unfinished. However, both rooms were clean. For dinner, we went to the restaurant attached to Ajanta. They took a long time to take the order. The briyani finally arrived but was not even hot. We finally got the waiter to give us the bill. He promptly vanished after taking the money. When he reappeared after more than 5 minutes he seemed to have forgotten about the change. He had to be asked. But to his credit, he gave us the change. Of course, he received no tip. At night, we were kept awake by workers who were shouting and throwing things. All in all we were glad that we had to stay only one night there as we checked out at 9 am. I called Ajanta and enquired about the rates for the standard room. It was Rs2160 inclusive of all taxes. (Rs1800/- + 10% + 10%). On Travelguru the rate was Rs.1850/- incl of all taxes with a special promotion of 25% cash back. Maybe that is why we were denied rooms at Ajanta and sent elsewhere. It is likely that the rooms at Ajanta are better though we did not see them. It will be good of Travelguru takes up the matter with Ajanta for this unfair practice.
The complimentary pickup from the airport was the only thing that was good, right on time. Apart from this BEWARE! YOU WILL BE IN FOR A RUDE SHOCK OF YOUR LIFE, when you will go to the reception of this Hotel. The person will inform you that they have two sister concern hotels, one at the front and one behind Hotel Ajanta, and they will provide you a room in those hotles, and not in Ajanta itself! Travelguru needs to personally visit this hotel to check this! They said all rooms in Ajanta Hotel are booked, so they will put me across to a hotel in front of it. This hotel is being renovated and the room provided was having paint and cement smell. (Not to mention the unclean bathroom, with cement stained walls!) I spent 2 hours in the room, and I started to cough and the room was quite allergic and very dusty! I informed this to the staff at Hotel Ajanta, and they aplogized for this, and then they took me to a hotel behind Ajanta (This hotel is called Hotel Delhi City Centre) at 12.30 am!!!! and provided me a room there. I had booked a room from Travelguru for Hotel Ajanta, and not some other hotel in the first place!!!! The staff at Hotel Ajanta will cheat you by taking a booking, and then provide you with a sub standard room in a different hotel! PLEASE DO NOT GET CHEATED by these! I also found an elderly couple screaming and fighting with the reception staff at 12.30 am when they were shifting my room to a different hotel, because they were cheated too! Travelguru should not cheat customers by taking in a booking in Hotel Ajanta, and then the Hotel staff providing a different hotel itself! How can you cheat customers like this? If Travelguru is not responsible for this, then they need to contact the Hotel Ajanta and refund me the entire money for the hassel they put me through. Is someone at Travel Guru listening? Especially Vandana for asking me to write a review of getting cheated?
Even though initially we had problems with the room, service etc. the management was quick to pitch in and respond by taking corrective actions. Thereafter the stay was comfortable. So the quality of room improved from Average to Excellent. Quality of service improved from Average to Good. Quality of dining experience remained at Average due to its ambiance, congested seating, etc. Quality of cleanliness improved from Average to Good due to its unclean linen. Their travel desk service is very good, friendly and prompt.

We stayed there for a night, and were provided with a room on the highest floor. The rooms definitely were very old and needed an uplift. The linen as well were not that great. The breakfast was good. Wi Fi was hopeless. Decent stay but you might be able to find some better place. TIP : Ask for any rooms other that the top floor, they are better maintained.
The service offered from teh moment of arraival to the poiint of departure was fantastic. The hotel arranged an airport collection and the driver was outside awaiting my arrival as promised. The check in was quick and efficient. I was given a room on the top fllor which is in need of renovation and looks nothing like any of the photos on line or on the website. There was nothing to complain about it just looked tired. I would recommend you go for the option to include an evening meal as teh food was fantastic and menat not having to venture out at night. Very close to Delhi railway station if you have an onward journey. Finally the hotel owns the coffee shop opposite which makes super coffee and has a great range of cakes. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
the location of the hotel is very convinient located near to the railway station. the shopping destination janpath is also nearbuy. the family ooms in tthis hotel are very good.the staffs are kind enough to provide upgrades if available.looking forward to a stay in this hotel next time in delhi
After arriving a day late into India our plans had to change slightly. Luckily Hotel Ajanta were very helpful. They had arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport from arrival. From there we stayed 2 nights, once in a suite and once in a standard double. I would recommend the standard double. More recently refurbished and better shower. Suite is a bit tatty and definitely not worth the extra money to upgrade. Called a suite based purely on size. Zahoor helped arrange our tour of the golden triangle. We were very lucky to have Vijay as our driver. He was ace! Very accommodating and a really nice guy. We had an amazing time on the trip. Thanks
Very comfortable hotel in the centre of New Delhi right next to railway station. We spent three nights here, and were also helped with arranging a trip around the golden triangle (Delhi - Jaipur - Agra), with good service all along the way (driver, guides, hotels). Also very reasonable price.
