SCAM HOTEL - BEWARE SCAM HOTEL - BEWARE

by Joel B on September 11, 2016

Stay far away from this fleabag piece of crap hotel. If you end up here as a foreign tourist then you were the victim of an immaculate tourism scam. We arrived at 2am in Delhi for our first night in India. I bought what I thought was a legitimate ticket at the prepaid taxi stand directly in front of the airport. The taxi driver began driving us and told us that there was a festival going on, with violence on the streets. He said he was unable to bring us to our hotel because the roads were closed. He then said we had to go to the 'Government Tourist Center' to make alternative plans and dropped us off at this dumpy, dirty little office. I asked them to call my hotel and try to arrange transport. They then proceeded to make fake phone calls to their friends or fellow scammers, who then pretending to be working for the hotel. The 'hotel employee' told me the roads were in fact closed and that they would find me a different hotel for the night. Which hotel was that? None other than the Hotel de Gold. Somehow I got away without paying anything for this pile of crap hotel but others have not been so lucky. Since we were basically abducted/kidnapped and brought here, I don't feel like giving a normal review. But since I'm here, the sheets had stains, there were bed bugs, the bathroom was filthy and I refused to use any of their bedding. Stay far away from this dump.

DO NOT STAY, SCAMMERS DO NOT STAY, SCAMMERS

Myself and my sister Arrived in Delhi late at night at the end of our india trip before heading back to England. Ordered a prepaid taxi from airport to stay at another hotel for 2 nights, our taxi refused to take us to our hotel and clearly get Commission to taking people to this hotel, we were not Fooled but they would not let us out of the taxi except at this hotel. Rude staff who tried to charge 10'000 rupees a night (even from the outside this is a joke), they would not let us out of the hotel Even when we threatened to call the police- as late at night had no alternative so paid 3000 rupees a night which is still very overpriced. They would not give us wifi until we had paid either. All of the above aside, the hotel was Very unclean and basic no toiletries included. No running hot water. No window in one of walls just a open so extremely noises. Aircon dos not working either. Food was awful and they tried to give us already opened bottles of water. Would avoid at all costs probally. Better sleeping on the streets of New Delhi.

Arrived in delhi at the end of our 1 monrh trip in india, booked taxi who was clearly working in line with this hotel, refused to take us to our hotel giving the usual scam talk of festivals ect that we have heard throughout our journey, however, as it was late at night they saw us as vulnerable and literally would not take us to our hotel so brought us to de gold. Expensive over priced tried charging us 300 (a unrealistic joke of a price), in end we got it for 3000 ruppes a night which was still ridiculous! But we had no choice as they would not let us out if the hotel. Rip off. Then they had shoddy disgusting food. Horrible, dirty room with stains everywhere. No hot water. Dirty. No window. Noisy. Horrible area far aware from everything. No WiFi. Have reported this hotel, avoid!!!

Not Ethical.. Not Ethical..

We were in a really bad situation. Having just arrived In Delhi late at night, a festival was on and our hotel had cancelled our reservation. Hotels were full everywhere and my girlfriend and I were left with nowhere to go. This hotel took us in.. But made the price ridiculous as we were desperate. They pretended that they cared about welcoming us to there country, but all they cared about was money. The breakfast was abysmal, the room.was disgusting, the staff didn't even know the address of the hotel and the "free" driver who said he would help us find a train ticket drove off and left us in the middle of nowhere. Don't waste your time with these greedy, lazy people who give a very bad first impression of India.
