The property was beautiful and neatly maintained. Service was quite special and the staff was very attentive. There was no delay in assistance. I checked the food too and it was delicious. I will certainly recommend this property.

The Diplomat was a nice cozy hotel in an excellent location. I was perhaps the only business traveler there at the time, which was great because I hate soul-less business hotels. The rooms are small but clean and done up tastefully. I had some difficulty getting the shower to spout hot water early in the morning - I think they only switch on the central water heater after 7 or so. The staff were friendly but not always super-efficient - I had a small housekeeping problem which resulted in 4 different people converging in my room, without tools and without good ideas. I eventually had to sort out the issue myself. There is only one restaurant, The Olive, but it is a classy, high-end Italian place where I would love to eat again. In fact I can highly recommend it to non-guests as well. The restaurant people provide room service too, so you have nothing to fear while ordering slightly obscure dishes. Overall, while the hotel has limitations, it is charming little place where I will stay again. It is expensive for its class though - I paid Rs. 10K a night, at least 30-40% above my expectation.

The room booked through the website cost me about Rs.6k. I preferred this to Ramada (which was costing me just Rs.500 more) as I thought a boutique hotel charing good amount might give better service. It was not meant to be. Worst is the breakfast & service. The breakfast is Ala Carte. The choice is "Omlette/French toast/Boiled egg" apart from tea/coffee/cornflakes/milk. We ordered one omlette & one french toast. Omlette was good, french toast was pathetic. In the name of french toast, they served 2 small slices cut into 4 which will not feed even a 5 year old child. There were no other options. I have stayed at tens of hotels. The breakfast is usually very decent. Did I tell u that nobody even served the water till we did not ask for it twice? On another table, there was a foreign couple & the service difference on the table was too apparent. Maybe the hotel is meant for foreign visitors & they don't like Indians. Laugh at yourself if u think that any of the waiters at the restaurant even had a flicker of smile. Ever. Housekeeping pathetic. After a days stay, we extended our stay for a day more, just for convenience. We went out at 10am & came back at 2pm. The room was not done up. Any good hotel will do it automatically. 3 different staff gave 3 different versions of how we can get a couple of shirts ironed. Finally we got an ironing board & did it ourselves. On 2nd day, the tea/coffee sachets were not put. No, it is not a 4 star as the claim is. Nothing good to talk about? Yes, there are a couple of things: Interiors are pretty good. The room is done up nicely & is cosy. Front office service is decent. Asked for a room change which was done intsnatly. Restaurant service, breakfast & housekeeping, one of the worst. At 6k/night, dont think its worth it (the guy at te recption told me the rack rate is 12k/night). Could have rolled over the floor, laughing.
