Do not be fooled by the name. There is a 5-star Metropolitan Hotel which when you search on Google comes up with recommended booking options. On the results was a really good deal from Priceline, which I fell for. It was the mistake of Google that this property is NOT the same as the 5-star one it shares the name with. This place is in the most shady neighborhood. I am a solo woman traveler and arrived around midnight and was scared. The only room they had for me was room #2 which was basically a seedy ground floor room around the corner from the front desk. It seemed like the caretakers room! It was gross, stark, cold and bare. There was a scary window which opened right to the outside street. There were mosquitoes. The bathroom had a leaky toilet and there was NO shower, only a bucket and a mug and tap which had lukewarm water at best. I immediately demanded to change rooms, but the manager could not accommodate me because they were sold out. Around 1 am I called every hotel in Delhi with no luck and had to undergo the horrible experience of spending the night in this scary room with a lot of men hanging around just outside the reception. As soon as morning came, I promptly packed up and called an Uber. The manager came out after me demanding that I pay for the airport transfer which was included in my voucher as a Airport Shuttle. I refused to pay anything and took it up with Priceline for a refund. Do avoid this place at all costs.
Don't let the name mislead you. Its not in the same constellation as the 5 star it shares it's name with, in fact its so bad that I forfeited my bookings for 3 rooms and moved on to a different hotel in October. It's a seedy little place in a narrow byelane of Karol Bagh ( a street called Chana market). Getting here amidst all the Din will take you quite a while. Once you get there try getting a parking to set down your luggage. You will end up getting cursed by the users on the narrow street for blocking up traffic. Once you step in, it has a small lobby. The receptionist made a good effort of making you welcome..... Save the shock for thr rooms. I was apparently upgraded to rooms on the 3rd floor. Boy!!! Was I in for a shock. Mold laden with a lot paint chipping off. Rooms were stained and smelled really musty and bad. I requested for better rooms but was told these were the best they had. I was forced to check out the same evening.... I lost the room rent for all 3 rooms for that night, despite me taking possession of only 1room. They however refunded the room fare of the second night. It has very deceptive photos on the website. It's a very disappointing place not worth a single star rating, forget the 3 they apparently flaunt. I would be cautious of booking at this hotel.
The Rooms are nothing to talk about, they only look like the Management Photos put on the site, but 10 years Older and less maintained. It did put us off a Bit to Check into what seemed like Worn out Rooms, but considering the Cleanliness, The Check Inn process and the Service thereafter all our fears of an uncomfortable Stay were put to rest. The Hotel Management and Staff are Extremely Courteous and Forthcoming and provided us impeccable service. Its a Budget Hotel and keeps up to the Tag as far as the Room Quality is concerned but Service and the ever smiling faces around you make up for it. Location is an added advantage as its located right in the market and very close to Connaught place and most of the Monuments. The best way to Travel delhi without being stuck for hours is the Metro and Karol bagh Metro station is a convenient 4-5 mins walk from the Hotel. Highly recommended if you are not too fussy about Rooms.
Four female friends stayed for two nights. Comfortable beds, tidy room. Breakfast of omelette was affordable and on time. Roadside rooms louder and lighter than the alleyside. Friendly staff. Nothing exceptional to note. Easily accessible from Karol Bagh metro (5 mins walk) but we addresses in market hard to understand. Restaurants and shopping all close.
I stayed here on two occasions - firstly, on my onward trip to Agra (Onctober 17, 2015) and, secondly on my return trip from Mussorie (October 23, 2015). Booked two rooms after going through lot of reviews for various other hotels. Finally happy with my choice and thanks to all my fellow travellers. This is a very good hotel that offers comfortable stay and great food at a reasonable price. Rooms are spacious and as per the photos provided here. It is at a walking distance from the metro station. The hotel staff are very cooperative. Overall I strongly recommend this hotel....
