The best part about this hostel is the travel agency. Abdul is awesome I was going to take trains and buses around Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi like a true backpacker(like how we normally do). He managed to get me transportation, hotel, train tickets, camel safari and a guided tour for much less than what we would pay backpacking. Best part-the hotels are phenomenal! We even managed to change our booking during the trip and have a very flexible schedule. Glamping version of backpacking
This review is primarily related to a travel arrangement service that a staff member provided us rather than the hostel itself. We booked through Hostelworld a double bed private room not many hours before our arrival, the hostel was very quick in responding to our emails and arranging airport pickup. However, upon arriving at the hostel at 1AM we were told that we were to be taken to a different hotel owned by the same company. Initially we were unsure of our safety as it was very unexpected, but my partner and I were both so exhausted from many hours of travel that we accepted the situation. The sister hotel wasnt the flashiest accommodation and was clearly undergoing construction as you entered. Our checkin/checkout and bill payment was processed back at the hostel the next morning.
Here we met a travel adviser named Abdul who went out of his way to arrange accommodation and transport for the holiday we wanted. Not having booked much, we were given the peace of mind that everything will be sorted. We told him the list of places we wanted to go and he explained that in India you cant just wing your way through, and things had to be booked in advance, especially with our restriction of 2 weeks. Abdul quickly calculated the total expenditure costs and reassured that everything will be arranged. Some examples of what was organised was a private driver, train tickets (which are very hard to get as a foreigner and last minute), and a variety of accommodation types according to your budget. Midway through we had to make some necessary changes and Abdul was very helpful in changing our plans quickly and even provided a refund (for what was our mistake). It is definitely worth mentioning that everything booked through Abdul was beyond our expectations, and we highly recommend his knowledge and service in planning out your trip.
This hostel/hotel is great, it's basic but just what you need! Friendly staff, amazing little pug dog, a 'welcome' cup of masala chai, good internet, comfy beds and hot shower! Hard to fault for such a good price too :).
I spend the last 12 days in India. during the trip I experienced hostel life for the first time, staying in Zostel (in Udaipur) and La vie (in Jodhpur and Varnasi) was such an amazing experience. I was looking forward to end my trip in a nice hostel in Delhi, so I found "new king" hostel with good reviews and high ranking on hostel world website, there was no pictures of the rooms on their page but I figured I should trust their high score on the hostel world. since I am an Iranian citizen and don't have a credit card to make a reservation online, I called the hostel from Varnasi and booked a Standard Double Bed Private room for me and my female friend over the phone, they agreed and told me not to worry. we arrived at Delhi the next morning, found the hostel finally (which was not so easy) and asked about our room, with no explanation they sent us to a crappy building in the neighborhood, some guest house with different name, and some guy told us that we can check our room! I called the new king again and asked them to explain, they just told me that the building is a property of the hostel and the only thing that they can offer, otherwise "you can find another place to stay!" they said.
I found some place else to stay but I am so angry with new king irresponsible and dishonest behavior
The location of the hotel is really bad and dirty. Inside is not the best, bathrooms are small and you can always hear noises from other rooms, sometimes when others were unlocking their rooms I felt like they were about to enter my room. But the staff are very friendly and nice and speak fluent English (unlike most hotels in India) and they just don't care about money, you get free drinks and snacks every night at the party. I would totally recommend this place if you are staying for short time.
