I was looking was a low cost 1 night stay in the posh diplomatic enclave in Chanakyapuri. The Youth hostel was just perfect. Very clean rooms, AC worked. Reception desk staff was lethargic and slow, took us a full 15 mins to check in. We had dinner - Rs 200 per person. If you can do everything yourself without contacting staff, looking for a no frills hotel in a posh locality, this is the best hotel.

Everything I needed Everything I needed

Welcoming, helpful, friendly staff, a clean comfortable room, filling breakfast and good wifi. What more could one want? The only slight disadvantage is that there are no cafes or restaurants nearby. There is an excellent takeaway, though: Alkauser at the end of Kautilya Marg. Best biryani Ive ever had!

Safe, Cheap and Hospitable Safe, Cheap and Hospitable

Located in Diplomatic Enclave of New Delhi, its the safest area in New Delhi. Surrounded by Embassies of different countries. One can even take a stroke at midnight without fear. Coming to Hostel Part, this place is gender segregated stay like most of the Youth Hostels, unlike Hostel in Europe or other parts of the World where the hostel is place to socialize and meet new people. It's for People who want to roam and work the entire day and just crash it bed at Night. I got to meet all sorts of people here from a Professor to an Air India Captain on leave. The price is super cheap compared to standards of Delhi, it's just INR 300 for Non-Airconditioned Drom and INR 600 for Air Conditioned Drom. There are private rooms also available. The pricing inclusive of breakfast. For all the droms washrooms aren't ensuite and are quite clean. For the Food Part: There is a cafe in the Hostel which serves Breakfast, The Breakfast consists of an Omellete with bread slices, Utappam and Idli. You can take anyone one, once and is served with Tea or Coffee. The quality isn't good but still its good for the price. The serve Lunch as well dinner which is chargeable and requires a prior intimation. There is also a free wifi in the area which is slow and limited to cafe area For the connectivity part, the nearest Metro Station in Race Course and can be reached by taking an auto or Using Uber Pool. Normally Auto charge 40 but sometimes go up to 50 be sure to haggle. Taking an uber is always recommended. While coming from the Airport take Airport Express and get off at Duala Kaun and take an auto or a bus, if using bus get off at Palika Kuthubh. If you are arriving after midnight and closure of Airport Express you can take a Bus going towards Kashmere Gate and get off at Palika Kutumbh and walk to the hostel or take an Uber.

I arrived there and didn't have any expectation and I found a friendly staff, super clean space and proper installations. for R300 you get a comfy bed, even if it's in a dorm, every bed as small private space separated by a structure. Toilets are clean and water is nice and hot. Dinning room is big, colorful and clean. Breakfast it's just perfect and it's included! good connexions by rickshaw to central secretariat (R50).

International Youth Hostel (IYH) is close to US Embassy - a reason I decided to stay here for visa interview, The place is at a walking distance from US Embassy - if you had an experience of Delhi auto and cabs. Single room is pricey for the facilities. Non-AC dorm and AC dorm are both good. I found that AC dorms come with their own bathroom that are a tad clean compared to bathrooms of non-AC dorm. Complimentary breakfast provided in morning is not nutritious, but the CCD coffee/tea is good. Later I ordered a tea and the cook used different coffee machine - the tea from non-CCD machine is not good. When I asked for CCD tea, the cook told me that CCD tea is provided only in morning. The lunch and dinner are not good quality - though they are relatively cheap compared to eating-out. Complimentary breakfast apart, everything else from toiletteries to drinking water is provided at reasonable prices. The wireless internet was good - though sometimes it may not work. Cabs and auto-rickshaw are available outside of the gate. They told me that they have a good security, but my smartwatch got stolen. Be wary and lock all electronic items in the shelf with a small lock. Truth be told, IYH is not a luxury hotel and there is no better place to stay near US Embassy. Being not from Delhi, I find IYH a really good option to stay whenever I have embassy-related work.

Yet another very good youth hostel at a very convenient location. Good service. Good rooms. This is one of very busy hostels so it is better to do online booking. To get On the spot booking is very difficult. Also as usual carry your membership card or number, do not forget the same. When you do on line booking don't forget your booking reference number.
