A nice break from the Paharaganj budget options A nice break from the Paharaganj budget options

Came here on a very hot day and was glad that I had. Beautifully appointed rooms, courtyard and lobby. Very helpful staff. The roof top restaurant is nice. Prefer the rooms along the upper balconies, but didn't like the room I had once that was downstairs as much.

Really Disappointing Really Disappointing

by Worldly10 on February 20, 2017

I traveled for three weeks in Rajasthan and stayed in five clean, comfortable hotels throughout. Jyoti Mahal came nowhere near the quality, cleanliness or quiet of the other places I stayed. From stained towels and pillow cases, to foul drainage smell to the sounds of sick guests echoing the halls, this place has much room for improvement. The food was mediocre. The rooftop was a messy arrangement of castaway furniture that made the environment anything but relaxing. It's too bad, really. The building has all the potential to be something special with some TLC and a creative eye it could be so much better.

Got a hygiene problem Got a hygiene problem

Even if I booked a non-smoking room I was given one that smelled like an ashtray and the toilet didn't work. Next room smelled even worse, the towels wasn't clean, the bathroom full of fungus. The food in the rooftop restaurant is really bad and its terribly dirty like the rest of the hotel.

We spent 2 nights here & so disappointed... the photos on trip advisor are not accurate, has some old world charm but needs some TLC & cleaning. The walls in the rooms were dirty, the restaurants food was good but the boys need to be spending less time on their phones & some time cleaning, dirty & in dire need of a good scrub. The staff in the hotel were very helpful & the linen was clean. Very conveniently located

Not as charming Not as charming

by Kamala11 on January 26, 2017

I love old, charming hotels full of history and pleasant atmosphere. I heard that this one was on of them. And yes, it was old, and it has atmosphere. But it was neither charming nor pleasant. The room had the mandatory strong electric white light, dirty walls and no light at all the the bathroom. It was also hard to flush the toilet. Although we told the staff it took 2 days to fix the lamp, they provided a candle, and asked if we wanted to change rooms to one big bed (we had twin beds). The breakfast contains of 3 white toasts, eggs and tea or coffe. Very basic. There are 3 great things about this place, one that it's quit and we slept like logs. The other the lovely terass, the 3d is the central location. It still way to expensive for what you get. So, no I wouldn't stay here again, but yes, it has it's old charm left.
