An oasis of calm and sanity in New Delhi An oasis of calm and sanity in New Delhi

by Justin H on January 15, 2017

We stayed here for the last few nights of a very long trip across India and we wished we'd come sooner. The boutique hotel feeling is very comfortable. Shanti Home has all the comforts of an excellent hotel with the benefit of more of a luxury home feeling. Large comfortable couches, computers, and an exercise room. The cooking class was fascinating and also a chance to look around their very clean kitchen. Help with travel arrangements was invaluable, as was the ability to print our boarding passes. The rooms were lovely, with all the comforts one would expect from a western hotel (except a TV, which I didn't miss. There's a TV room if you need to catch up on the latest Bollywood hits).

A Delhi Delight A Delhi Delight

Enjoyed a short but sweet stay at Shanti Home shortly before New Year's. We arrived quite late but were still greeted warmly with a glass of juice, marigold garlands around our necks and turmeric (I think?) on our foreheads. We instantly felt at homeShanti Home, that is. The staff are really outstanding, answering our many questions and responding to every request in record time. Note: the hotel felt very secure (the street was gated and there's a 24-hour guard) and we never once worried about safety. We loved dining on the rooftop and thought the food delicious, especially the breakfasts with made-to-order omelettes and crepes, and the Indian specialties are not to be missed, either. Again, the staff was attentive and friendly, and everyone spoke English with a smile. Our room, on the first floor, was clean, cozy and quiet. (We couldn't tell if the hotel was full at the time or not, since we didn't see/interact with many guests, seeing as we were in Agra to see the Taj.) Two twin beds were firm yet comfortable enough for two friends traipsing around the sub-continent. The room was slightly chilly (it was late December after all), but we had a space heater that warmed us right up. Also, the shower had splendidly hot water with more than adequate pressure. The bath amenities smelled lovely, too. The whole place really feels like a home as opposed to a hotel, with the public spaces tastefully decoratedif we had more time, we would've been happy to hang out there a bit more and take advantage of the spa and yoga studio as well. Our stay wasn't nearly long enough, but we'd definitely stay at Shanti Home sweet home again. A real find!

A lovely haven A lovely haven

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. The staff was super helpful and made our stay v pleasant. We had the Konarc room which was very spacious and lovely and they squeezed a cot in for my son. The people who mentioned hearing traffic. .. I am not sure where in Delhi you wouldn't hear was not disturbing to us at all. We loved the rooftop restaurant - breakfast was delicious - We always got an egg dish and then split on Indian breakfast item. We ate dinner there too because at the end of the loud chaotic day, a peaceful meal on that rooftop was wonderful. We highly recommend the butter chicken. Also Shanti home is a quick walk to the metro. Before we left I thought I would never have the courage to use the metro on our own but the staff walked us over, got tickets for us and lent us a cell phone if we had any problems. And we found the metro fun and easy to use and likely quicker than cars in the traffic. I wouldn't want to come home too late and walk fr the metro. It might be cautious. ...its dark. Had a great stay. Thank you.

We stayed at the Shanti Home for 2 nights at the start of our trip and we were extremely impressed. Prior to our arrival the staff at the Shanti Home had helped us arrange various parts of our trip in North India as well as arranging a driver. We arrived at Delhi airport and as promised we were greeted by the driver from Shanti Home. The rooms in the Shanti were spacious, well decorated and clean. The roof top restaurant was truly delightful and the highlight of our stay was the cooking lesson we did with the lovely head chef. He was extremely patient with my 2 teenage children and we produced a delicious 4 course meal. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
