Immense courtesy and availability which made the stay really appreciable. Rooms are nice and clean. The position is a plus to reach all the most relevant city areas. The neighborghood is quite and pleasant. Definitely advisable
The Shervani New Delhi is small, and in a very quiet, gated residential enclave in Nizamuddin, in east-central Delhi. The location is excellent, particularly for independent travellers who are looking for clean budget central Delhi accommodation of a standard acceptable to most western or international travellers.
Major tourist sites such as the Lodhi Gardens, Delhi Zoo, Humayun's Tomb, and Akshardham are all very close by. Connaught Place is also only a short distance by taxi. As the hotel is in a very quiet, leafy suburban street there are no shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity, although there is a social precinct nearby at Excellent shopping, restaurants and cafes can be found only a short distance away in Sundar Nagar, or by taxi at Khan Market.
I see that the Shervani is promoted as a business hotel, although personally I don't think it is particularly suited to business travellers due to its residential isolation. However it is very close to the Pragati Maidan where many major Indian conventions and exhibitions are held.
The hotel has little in the way of public amenities, with a small lobby and dining area, and tiny garden at the rear. Breakfast is complimentary in the tiny restaurant off the lobby, but very minimalist has a very limited selection. Although the hotel is small, it does have an elevator which is a bonus.
Rooms are spacious, and comfortably outfitted. The premium, and suite rooms are particularly good if you are staying for a few days as they have quite substantial lounge areas with sofas and chairs - good for spreading out or entertaining. The suite also had an enormous superking bed, and two independent air-conditioning units. The room bathrooms are very dated and basic and due for upgrade. I was in a comfortable suite but the bathroom was very small and narrow, and still had a very basic shower over an old bath with a shower curtain.
The biggest issue I had with the hotel was the fact that there are no other commercial services in the street, and that taxis had no idea where the hotel was located. Uber has the hotel listed in the completely wrong location, about 500m away in the Sunder Nagar market, so taxis would often get lost looking for the location. A plus was the fact that the staff were helpful and friendly.
I would certainly recommend the Shervani New Delhi to independent western travellers seeking comfortable budget accommodation in central Delhi without the frills.
I stayed here on two occasions, once was a business trip and the other when i brought my family to Delhi for 3 days. The hotel is extremely conveniently located and is smack in the center of town. Yet it is located in a residential colony and so there is alot of peace and quiet.
Breakfast is served hot and fresh and the chef is happy to take any suggestions to customize the meal.
Rooms are very clean and I have been told they were recently done up. The bathrooms have hot water running throughout & Housekeeping staff are very polite.
Stayed here for 2 nights. It is in a very quite and nice residential area. It is very close to pragati maidan and is good for those who are attending exhibition there. Connaught place is also about 8 km away. The hotel is small and well done up, staff is courteous and helpful, food is also nice. Breakfast is filling and good too. Overall good value for money and no hassles. I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for 4 nights this month. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because of the hospitality of the staff. From the Bell boy to restaurant waiter, typical Delhi style over the board hospitality.
Rooms are just ok. Small, unkempt, in need of sincere maintenance. A/c was not working properly, curtains were ready to fall off, furniture could have been better maintained. Toilets are a complete mess. Drainage doesn't drain water, shower leaks and makes the whole toilet wet. Worst of all, lights in the toilet are sensor controlled and keep switching off while you are still inside.
Management needs to seriously look into the overall maintenance of the property especially since they have a superb location.
