Hotel Lakeview in Ooty is a set of individual cottages situated in an elevated place opposite to lake.We were there for two days in the month of December2016, Traffic during this time was relatively less. However it was more or less sunny days. Ambience of the property is good with plenty of spaces for car parking. However approach road to the property is not wide. They have one restaurant and the food was good. People are courteous. The hotel has arrangement for sight seeing also. Hotel location is about 2km from the main bus stand and bazaar.
The cottage rooms do not have heating facility. Since it was little bit chill, on our request they arranged the heater on payment (Rs 300 per day)
Rooms are spacious with separate sitting room with TV and tea table
Wonderfully located rooms on the hill.
Beautiful rooms and good service.
Little expensive compared to other hotels in the town.
The view from rooms is pretty awesome. Nice place to chill out and relax .
Its a beautiful hotel to stay, and location of the hotel is also very good, although little far from the main city. It is situated near the Ooty lake, if you book a vila, then you can have the view of lake as well from the hotel. For sight seeing there is travel desk, which provides a local bus which is around Rs 250 per person to visit which covers roughly 10 main destinations. There is around Rs 50 extra per person for tour guide in the bus. Do not believe tour guid for buying anything, they are tied up with the local shop, instead go to local market and buy ooty choclates. Tea Factory visit is good and you can buy tea from their if interested. One disadvantage with hotel is that there is no nearby (walkable) restaurant and you have to take your vehicle to have food. In night being hill station everything closes early, so there are very few choices.
Overall it is a good hotel and very beautiful place to visit.
The Resort is expanded over a 83 acres land, just next to the Ooty lake. Rooms are very beautiful, few cottages are liquefying. The Rooms are very well maintained. Perfect location for a lovely stay in Ooty. Just make sure you have your own vehicle, else its bit far from main city, and one can't rely on public transport. The Rooms are walloped with Storage type Geysers and warm, comfortable beds, an extra bed in living room, a dining area, and essential toiletries are provided in the washroom.
The service in their in-house restaurant is pathetic. The serving people wont understand Hindi or English, they don't have manners of serving the food in plates, Placing the order took 20 minutes, it took 15 more minutes for order to arrive on table, This was lunch story.. For breakfast, it was even worse, we finally walked out from the restaurant and complained to the manager, who took this seriously and finally we had breakfast. Only positive thing is that the Veg. Food is really tasty. We had Minestrone Soup, Paneer Adraki, Rotis for Lunch and Butter Masala Dosa for Breakfast.
For Room Service orders, they straight away tell you that it will take 45 minutes for your food to arrive and they can't assure the hotness of the food. I suggest the Hotel Management should atleast provide Electric Kettles in the Cottages, so that guests can make a hot tea/coffee/warm water for themselves in freezing cold of Ooty instead of depending on Cold and Slow Room Service.
There are fireplaces in the cottages, you can avail the service at Rs. 150 extra. We called the housekeeping for firewood and he came within 10 minutes and lit the fire. Also, the rooms are well maintained, impressed with the house keeping guys.
Overall, a nice Budget resort with good food, but very worst service. If they improve the service and add up some more comforting things in cottages will become an amazing resort in Ooty.
Our 2 nights stay during 2017 NYE was a memorable stay.
1. Hospitality and service was amazing. Special mention for the room service which was quick
2. Complimentary breakfast was above average and is one of the highlights for a stay here
3. Chose a room with bonfire facility and never regret it once
1. As it is located about 4kms from the main town so we are mostly dependent on the auto service
2. Not such a great room view at least from our room
3. Travel desk had a lot of options for sightseeing but in our opinion they are expensive
