Hotel is run down badly and needs a serious upgrade. For a heritage hotel, the upkeep was very poor, food quality needs to significant improvement. The occupancy of the hotel was very low, during my stay at the hotel( for Obvious reasons).
The lawns did not have lighting to walk around in the evening and guests were advised not to walk around on the lawns after dark, for safety reasons. No WIFI in rooms.
The room fittings and furnishings are poorly maintained.
The staff at the hotel were the only redeeming factor, they were courteous, attentive and helpful at all times. But staff cannot overcome poor upkeep and infrastructure of the hotel.
It's a grt place. Though bit expensive, but a grt option if u get a decent deal.
Location - secluded property,,, quite, calm and serene. Ample space all around d palace.
Structure - old palace, thus everything had an essence of royalty in it. Trust me when I say it feels grt to stay inside one.
Rooms - huge rooms, with palace like furniture. Insanely large bed, separate sitting area. However, the TV in the room was looking out of place, it wasn't going with d overall ambience - this is a compliment, as it is supposed to be palace.
Food - was good enough, though it is not generally served in d rooms.
Pricing - it is OVER PRICED. I stayed because no other hotel was available.
Location - it's a good 4-5kms away from d city centre. So u might miss d hustle bustle of d city.
Pub - only beer they serve no other hard drink. They might arrange specially for you, if advised on time.
Parking - it cud b a problem when it rains, as d parking area is almost a hundred meters away from the porch.
Ghostly - not sure how much of this is true, bt if u Google this place it is dere in one of d haunted place/hotel in India. Well 1 of my friends did experience sleep paralysis. He was half asleep, when he felt a movement behind him. Few seconds later, much awake, he thought of checking it out. To his horror, he just wudn't move - as stiff as a statue with just eye movements. This lasted for a couple of minutes. but all was ok, post that.
All this was a bit scary for our friend but a grt experience fr others. As we all gt to stay at a haunted place, though others didn't experience anything suspicious.
Overpriced and poorly maintained hotel. Rooms lack adequate heating, except one portable room heater/blower. Hot water available only 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. Quality and choice of food needs a lot of improvement.
The beautiful lawn does not have lights at night and it is pitch dark outside the lobby and cannot venture out for a walk as same is not safe. No WIFI in the rooms. The hotel is terribly run down and in need of serious refurbishment. At present, this is not a VALUE-FOR-MONEY proposition and grossly overpriced. The only redeeming factor of the hotel is it's staff, who are extremely polite, courteous and attentive. Without the quality of the staff, the hotel may as well shut-down. But there is only so much staff can do and improving physical infrastructure is not their mandate.
Property with heritage looks , old renovated Mini palace but need major facelift in terms of services and quality . Do not qualify to a star ambiance and with limited options of buffet menu plus no wifi in the rooms. Upside is the sprawling lawn and too silent a venue which is cut off totally . No valet parking and but the staff is quite courteous . Washroom in the suite needed high Maintanance and unless it's on a negotiated package , it's not value for money at all . An average property for its name and outlook
This was an unplanned trip as a surprise to my family....The property is 160 years old, the old charisma is maintained beautifully with the teak wood furnishings and the wall carvings, and some 1000's of pictures all around. Spread across acres of land, this is a quiet, nice, and peaceful place to be. The hotel still works on paper in the technology world, and that is a surprise by itself.
Inhabitated the the most uncommon regular guests (Wild Bison) it is a treat for nature lovers.
The staff takes (chef and stewards and front office) to ensure your stay is comfortable.
Overall a place worth visiting but should be cautious of a few things so that it does not disappoint you with your own expecations....
1) This is a palace and not a 5 start resort...so dont expect the modernity of a resort
2) It is QUIET, and if you do not like that, then this is not the place for you
3) The fittings in the bathroom needs to be checked , and should be given the "software upgrade" --if you know what i mean....for example, the linen to be changed, supplies, door baths, nozzles of the jacuzi etc
Overall I would recommend this place to one and all....
