Highly recommended! Highly recommended!

Our stay at Olappamanna Mana home was very enriching. The exposure to history, culture and food of Kerala were so unique that I cannot imagine receiving such an authentic experience in mainstream touristy type of locations and accommodations. The family is very warm and welcoming, ensuring the requests of guests are accommodated. It is an ideal place to spend anything from a weekend escapade, to honey moon. Highly recommended.

The greatest highlight of an amazing visit to Kerala The greatest highlight of an amazing visit to Kerala

This is an amazing place and we were sorry we had only scheduled one night here. We almost immediately felt part of the family, eating with the polite, distinguished and gracious family at their table- a meal that included our driver which was exceptional- and attending a ceremony to the family God. The buildings are ancient and ooze history. An early morning swim in a nearby river crowned our experience.

A very different homestay with extremely welcoming hosts who maintain a traditional noble lifestyle as members of the Brahmin community. We were privileged to attend a special Kathakali performance which is a classical dance-drama form in Kerala, a tradition which the hosts are endeavouring to keep alive. Colourfully costumed and made up - you can witness the make up being applied over some hours! - the performance is loud, energetic and does go for over 2 magnificent hours! Quite special. The accommodation, while comfortable, is in a lovely 2 storey building which hasn't been fully maintained but offers a unique opportunity to experience a distinctive home. The food was the best we had in our 3 week stay, with lots of delicacies. No alcohol is allowed and we found that easy to follow as respect for our hosts.

A blissful experience!!! A blissful experience!!!

When you visit and stay at Olappamanna Mana Homestay, you are not just experiencing a homestay. It is an all-round experience that one can never forget in life. I do not want to make this review less interesting by pouring words that are cliche'd. I see the Mana as a Sanctum Sanctorum around which a whole lot of heritage world exist. Be it the architecture, be it the flora & fauna (I am told there are 40+ varieties of birds live there, a haven for ornithologists), be it age-old arts and crafts, Mana is the THE PLACE to be. The family is one of the oldest feudal lords who still flourish in their own way of humiility and magnanimity. Being a connoisseur myself of age old performing arts, the place was almost like a temple for me. They have tried to protect the tradition the best way possible as much as a private family can do. The family is known for preserving the classic art forms for centuries. I even got to see a great Kathakali performance by a living legend in an event called "Thadiyarangu". Can't stop this review without talking about the hosts.Cant find any words to talk about those genuine kind souls who make you feel the place just like your own home. Being a pure vegetarian family, we simply enjoyed the homely food in all its varieties. The young host Navaneeth Narayanan happens to be my long time friend. He himself is an Artist and his wife a Painter. His father Olappamanna Damodaran, who is a natural businessman got the idea of making his ancestral home a Homestay. His wonderful wife could only be the best complementing personality who is simply endearing. The stay there brought my memories of my stay with my family when I used to visit our Palace during holidays. Believe me, you will never regret a holiday there at Olappamanna Mana Heritage . Homestay... NOTE: There are many attractions around depending on your taste. Heritage, Performing Art, Rain Forest, etc. Plan your trip properly to savor everything.

We spent two nights at Olappamanna Mana. We enjoyed the old buildings, the good food but most of all the company of our charming host and hostess. We found the visit both interesting and relaxing and I think that we got an introduction to the Hindu culture and way of life. All in all we were very glad that we were able to enjoy this experience.
