It was very nostalgic being at the balaram palace bcz it's an ancestral palace where our forefathers were connected to the nawab!! It is now looked by a renowned Palanpuri whose family gives personal attention to this property just like a home. The hospitality is amazing , vegetarians delight, 24*7 service available along with activities which can be arranged for kids n adults. Must visit balaram palace winter is best season with beautiful sunrise and lush lawns. It's a clean pollution free zone !! Also lovely piece of architectural work in the jain temples in Palanpur.
Balaram Palace Resort is Heritage property and one of the best property in Gujarat. every thing is excellent in this resort. Rooms, hospitality, food, ambience, is superb. Every body should visit once and then u will visit repeatedly. This resort is best place for destination marriage.
I went with my wife to this place in Nov 2016 and stayed there for 2 nights. This is a heritage property and happens to be a summer place of nawab of Palanpur. Very well accessible by roads, it is at a distance of 150 Kms from Gandhinagar Gujarat and only 13 Kms from Palanpur railwaystation on Delhi Jaipur Abu Ahmedabad railway line. It is located in the forest far away from the hustle and bustle of civilization. I recommend to stay in royal tent which reminds you of a real tent located amid forest. Interior is very authentic and tastefully done and reminds you of a tent erected in a forest for Gora Sahib and her mam sahibin britishers era. There is no major tourist spot (except a temple of Lord Shiva at 1 km) worth visiting nearby and it is good if you just want to kill time on your own way. Service is excellent staff is very prompt, courteous. food is also good with certain reservations. It has a good jogging track of around 1 km along the property. Minus sides. Despite being shown in the brochure, royal tents do not have freeze in the room. Strictly vegetarian not even eggs. Sounds funny as the site is being promoted as a mahal of Nawab (Gujarati vegetarian nawab!!) No liquor available as Gujarat id a dry state. But if you are able to carry your own quota with a built in risk of being caught by Gujarat Police, staff will not bother you and will promptly supply ice etc.promptly with no extra charges. There is no shop nearby so carry your stock of bites, snacks cigarettes etc. for the stay. As a whole lovely place to spend 2 days (adequate) to spend with nature.
the place is little remote to urban world and thus comes with lot of experiences with it . some 10 kms inside main highway , this palace turned resort will give you a great treat mainly from outside . it's huge, archaeologically good with will kept gardens etc. rooms although are not that royal. people in a mood to relax in solitude come here for 2/3 days mainly on weekends . its also famous as a film shooting location .famous hindi film 'suryavansham ' was shot here.
This heritage hotel gobsmacks you when you first arrive, you are mesmerized by the sheer grandeur of the well manicured gardens and building that you enter. We just happen to be the only foreigners booked in as there was a grand wedding of two wealthy families in the district so our room was what I would have thought a converted store room with adequate but ancient facilities as we did not get the chance to stay in the actual palace. All the glamourous tents were booked but this did not detract from the overall magnificence of the facility. As it happened after a huge vegetarian meal in the dining area, (which was excellent) we were watching the wedding proceedings and were invited to this amazing venue. The friendliness and hospitality we were afforded was gracious and this made our visit here all the more pleasurable. The grounds were something to talk about for a long time so well thought out and cared for.
