We clubbed Gangtok, Darjeeling and Baiguney for the vacation and Baiguney was the part where we just relaxed. Club Mahindra's property is really nice. Though there's construction going on for most part of the property, it still does not create trouble. Rangit river flows near the resort but due to dam constructed over the river, there's not much water in the stream near the resort. A lot of pebbles and water flowing between the mountains is nice. Courteous staff, good food at the restaurant. We had a chance to eat Nepali cuisine during the dinner once and it was a great. There's nothing much outside the property or around Baiguney. You can relax in the pool or go for a spa or spend time near the river.
The resort is nice place to relax .Though there are lot of problems with bad roads and high taxi costs.Welcome by staff is touching the heart .The spa ,swimming pool and gym were nice.Fun zone is nice but needs improvement and attention. Its nice to walk up to Rangeet river. There needs to be special travel assistance packages .We planned tour to Dargeling and gangtok.
This was our first visit to a Club Mahindra property (we are not members) and being exposed to their marketing we had built high expectations of a luxurious resort, not uber class but luxurious. Sadly we were let down as there was nothing luxurious except the service. This place is located in middle of no where. You need to travel a lot for visiting tourist spots. We stayed a couple of nights and both days we were exhausted from travel to end up in bed from dusk to dawn. They have a beautiful swimming pool, a table tennis table, badminton racquets and I believe thats about it. A small lawn (which was under maintenance) a path leads down to the river flowing besides it. Since water levels were low and I was fearing swatters, didnt visit. The rooms were regular delux rooms, neat tidy, comfortable bedding, clean and modern bathroom. We participated in the Nepali food buffet and the food was good, enjoyed a new taste. Again regular meals not extraordinary. They do have a bonfire lit in the evenings. A huge let down was the evening activity, while checking in they said they have a surprise evening activity for guests and details would flow in later. When we went down, the activity was housie!!! The staff is very polite and helpful in every way. I would give them 5 stars for the hospitality extended right from reception to restaurant, to house keeping to their travel desk. Good job there and keep it up.
Overall rating 3 stars. Deducted points for not having a centre table and chairs in the room, small exterior windows, no brouchure for suggested tourist places in fact no brouchures about services except the menu (which is a standard menu for all CM resorts, do check with the restaurant for food options), the chicken chilly we ordered was salty and bland, no carpet slippers, no shampoo provided (common gel was provided). We interacted with another guests and he told us about loal drink thumba which was arranged by the hotel staff, I asked the staff to get us the local drink for the next day, the next evening when I checked again, they said they did not arrange for it. Could have been proactive in communication so tht I could have arranged it myself.
Again, standard resort property, nuthing excpetional and totally not worth the hype. We wanted to sign up for the membership but decided to stay at one of their resorts prior to committing, good decision and I will not take up the membership.
Every thing in baiguney is perfect. Just need little more activity in fun zone. Just avoid pelling sight seeing and go for darjilling it's near to baiguney don't go in Thursday as darjilling market is closed on that day, u can also go to Pasupati nagar in Nepal from darjilling it's near by u can get branded first copy thing in Nepal market just bargain a lot. U can also go for namchi sighting. And river rafting while going to resort.
Landed at the large property after a roller coaster ride on the bumpy roads of Sikkim at 9:30 pm, we were greeted by smiling Mahindra resorts team and a faint soothing hymn 'Om Mani Padme Hum' playing in the background, we felt its a good start to a great vacation and indeed it turned true.
We were greeted every day morning by the always smiling sarangi playing Bhim Gandharva was a nice way to start the day. A large property next to Rangeet was nice place though we felt carpeting in the rooms could have provided better insulation given the chilly weather outside. We only wish that the rooms could have been larger and had balconies so that we could soak in early morning sun and sip some piping hot tea brew. The bathrooms lacked wet/dry areas. The restaurant offered limited but great Nepali food and the Himalayan kheer. The property is large with a nice spa facility. The team including the travel desk, housekeeping guys were great and friendly. A great place to chill, relax and unwind.
Missed the sunset that from villages of Chakung and Chunbung. That's for the next time.
