Travelled with 6 adults (20-34) from the States for 5 nights. We had a great time at this resort and felt quite relaxed during our stay. The property itself is gorgeous and the beach is just amazing, which is a 3 hour drive from Chennai Airport. We went for morning walks every single day and since it is private, the beach is not crowded, very clean and you can hear the sounds of the waves for miles. The downside is the beach closes at 6:30 PM and reopens at 6:00 AM so it has limited access times. The property is quite big, with the exterior design of the buildings and landscaping making the property look stunning. The staff are helpful and always smiling.
Some issues we had were room service took forever or they supposedly "forgot" our order. Also, the rooms had only 1 charging plug for use. For a resort of this stature, that is quite disappointing and needs to be addressed. The food is largely overpriced, as well as the alcohol however, you can go into the city street to pick up food, alcohol, bottled water and bring it back to the resort. As the property is located outside the French colony town of Pondicherry, it's recommended that you bring bottled water, food, etc. on the way to the resort to avoid paying premium prices. Additionally, there are wine shops and markets 3 km from the resort, which could be a long walk for some or a cheap short rickshaw ride.
The resort itself has a nice eatery near the beach, which was a nice play to eat during the day when it was hot. The main dining area near the lobby has great food and had amazing menu options every single day. As for activities, there are many things to do such as batting cage for cricket, paintball, kids play area, a spin ride, biking on the property, etc. They even plan dance classes, karaoke, and other activities during the day but not many people were interested so turn out was low when we were there. However, be advised that there are no water sports as the water is rough. Also, everything is chargeable except the activities planned by the resort (dance classes, karaoke, table tennis, carom). There is free WiFi in the lobby area only but not in the rooms which I feel needs to be available across the resort. The rooms are nice from the outside but the inside needs work such as the bathroom/shower area, more tables and chairs, and possibly more storage area for those staying for longer nights. There are activities for all age groups and its a great place to kick back, relax and enjoy the beach views. Highly recommend planning a day visit to White Town Area French Colony, Auroville and Paradise Beach! Taxi service is available at the travel desk at the resort but it is expensive so be aware!
Overall, a great resort property but the rooms need to be improved and the food prices need to drop slightly. The best way to sum it up is the activities, foods, rooms are charged like 5 star resort properties however, its a 3.5-4 star property with the beach being its shining light.
Hi I recently checked in at club Mahindra with my family.I booked through redbus which cost me 3600- which is very cheap when compared to other sites. The rooms were simple but clean and comfortable. The resort was good with lot of activities.Pool was amazing and food was above average. When compared to other resorts at pondy, this one was cost effective and luxurious.
Bookings redbus and strictly for one day stay onli, more than that u ll b bored.
Firstly the property is far from the pondicherry city. So its not easy to travel to city and back if you dont have a car. The property is awesome, huge lawns, clean pool and many activities like zorbing, cycling and so on. They have many activities going on for the day, considering there is nothing to do around the property. Breakfast and dinner spread is awesome and its quite costly. Though i found the rooms quite disappointing once you compare with the other properties around. Flooring is just basic. Bathroom is simply ok. Considering the amazing property, the rooms are quite disappointing.
We , a group of 6 people stayed in the Club Mahindra from 12/2/2017 - 14/2/2017.
We decided to stay in this property based in the Clob Maindra based on the 4 star rating given in your web site. But was utterly disappointed with the conditions of the rooms and especially toilets.
The team activities was disappointing. The person who was conducting the dancing on paper could not garner enough support.
Our large group of about 30 people arrived here during a long weekend, to find the place completely packed. Some of our party had been stuck on the highway, due to breakdown of the vehicle sent to pick them up. Check-in took a really long time. Of the 10 or so rooms in the same category taken by our group, no two were exactly the same. Some of them had no closets or storage space whatsoever. Mattresses and blankets were lumpy, old and mouldy, hidden away under clean covers. Mealtimes were especially chaotic. The dining area is woefully under-sized for the number of rooms at this resort. As a result, we often had to take our plates outside once we served ourselves from the buffet. The last straw for us was an altercation with the staff, who were insistent on turning off the AC in the conference room we had booked for the evening. On the plus side, the property is vast, and there is enough to keep the kids busy, provided everything is working as it should be. The resort is a long way from Pondicherry. Unless you are a Club Mahindra member, you are better off staying closer to Pondicherry.
