We enjoyed our stay at this Hotel during our stay in Pomducherry and thought it was a lovely old building tastefully restored.We had a room on the back of the Hotel and it was quite. We enjoyed the food that was served here and breakfast was good. The staff were lovely and I enjoyed my cookery class with Rajeev The rooms are nice but do have low lighting and are nicely furnished A lovely place to stay

Very good hotel, rooms are tastefully decorated. Our first room was very small, so after the first night we were transferred to room 7, which was excellent. Service is very good. Coffee is excellent too:) Diner is not a la carte but a fixed menu. We would recommend to reconsider this. We enjoyed our stay very much and wish Sam John and his team all the best.

We came back to Maison Perumal for lunch on the 1st January 1017.We luckily booked a table a long time in advance. The restaurant was full.We tremendously enjoyed the prawns and fish served with lemon rice and a variety of vegetables all cooked to perfection.For dessert we chose chocolate mousse and cardamom panacotta. All delicious! As always GM Sam John and F & B Manager Jason as well as the waiters were very friendly and efficient. We highly recommend this restaurant located in a very elegant hotel Rolande and Jean-Paul

Charming Charming

This is a very charming property in the " Christian Quarter" of town, within walking distance from the ocean and highlights in the " French Quarter". This is a boutique heritage hotel with 10 rooms and exudes an unique character. The building is a 130 years large mansion with central courtyards. The facility has been extensively yet very thoughtfully renovated to add modern creature comforts while keeping the old world charm. The decor and vegetation enhance the warm ambiance. My room was well appointed and comfortable, though somewhat small. There was no space for a lounge chair or sitting area.The lighting was dim and inadequate for reading. The food was delicious and choices plenty in the small and charming restaurant. The staff was warm and friendly, without exception.

For a great experience of the French colonial, this hotel was ideal. The welcome was delightful, the inner courtyard a lovely space to relax, and everything was very clean. My sole complaint is that we only stayed one night. Our room was large, the four-poster bed comfortable, air conditioning effective, and the food at dinner and breakfast very good. (For me the lack of a buffet was good news as it stopped me from over-eating as I had been doing!) I'll add the comment on "room tips" too, but repeat it here: ask not to have rooms 1 or 2, as these face the street (all others seems to face inner courtyards) - the noise from the street disturbed our sleep, but those in our group who had other rooms said they slept totally uninterrupted.
