First of all, the resort allowed online booking through Travel Guru. It was showing available then. I also got a booking confirmation from Travel Guru. When I called to confirm the booking with the resort, they said it was sold out. Later I got to know from Travel Guru that the resort had extended the stay of some guests and so they turned down the booking. The resort staff was not in a mood to accept their fault and help us out. One thing to appreciate was that Travel Guru took up the matter and found an alternative accomodation for us. They were humble enough to accept the mistake and gracefully resolved the issue. Thanks to Travel Guru.

Access: This resort is approx 9kms away from the railway station. Auto guys try to rip you off asking for 300rs for this short trip (I can go from one corner of Bangalore to another and come back in 300rs in Auto). Bargain and you will get there in Rs 150. Its on the ECR, opposite to Pondy university. But the approach road from ECR into the resort is VERY narrow.. barely a SUV can get in. Parking: Ample parking available inside the resort (its open parking though). It can take in approximately 10-12 cars without any issues. Reception: Guy at the reception was good and was able to check me in in less than 5 minutes. He knew English, which was good as my Tamil was patchy. Room: The deluxe a/c room was not bad, it was big enough for 2 people to stay. Had a pretty big bathroom and it was very clean. First thing my wife checks when she gets into a hotel room is its bathroom and she was satisfied (which in itself is an achievement). Restaurant: Now here is where trouble started. The guys in there taking orders were 3 chinese guys! Wonder what they were doing in Pondi... they had great difficulty understanding us and vice versa. It took me 5 minutes and 4 waiters to tell them I needed bread omlet with orange juice! huh! Even though there were only 3 tables being served, they took more than 15 mins to get our orders and the omlet was cold. Quality of food: We had breakfast and lunch in this place. Breakfast as I mentioned already was cold, but lunch was ok. The chapathis were hot and the prawns curry tasted good. Prawns were fresh and quantity good. Avoid Chicken, it tasted stale and half cooked. Luckily, waiter during lunch was able to speak and understand English. Beach: Beach was just 2 mins walk from the resort, through its back entrance. Beach was very clean and had no one else but us enjoying it (except few fisherman going around). The beach was steep, so we didnt dare going in a lot into it.. but had fun. Very scenic too. Checkout: Check in and checkout at 12noon, but guys were flexible. Allowed us to check in at 10am and check out at 2pm. Facilities: Has NO facilities.. you can do nothing in there, other than enjoying the beach. It had no games or sports (other than cricket gear, which is waste for 2 people with one fairer sex). It had internet connection though. Overall: Its value for money, if you go through travel guru, as it was almost 1000rs less than what it would have been had I went directly through Nalla resort. Just go there to be laid back and enjoy the beach without having to worry that ur clothes will get wet.

Access: The hotel is located on ECR right on the beach ,pretty close to the Pondicherry University and the famous Auro Beach. Rooms & the view: The rooms have a reasonably good view of the sea. The view looks good though the beach had local fishermen present almost all the time. Not a good sign if you wish to spend some quality time with your family on the beach. Food & Service: Not a good place to be in if you are looking to spend your time eating good quality cuisine for which the Pondicherry is famous for. The food is pretty ordinary and on couple of occasions, ants were seen crawling on the sugar cubes and in coffee as well. The serving staff seemed least concerned when it was pointed out to them. The service is pathetic. In the room that I stayed in, the trap below the sink in the bath was broken and in-spite of complaining thrice, it was not fixed till the end. The food service was even more horrible. On one occasion, even after taking the order twice the waiter came after some time & informed us that the food can not be served as the chef has left. On other occasions, waiters mixed up the order by serving tea when coffee was ordered or completely forgot to provide room service unless reminded 2-3 times. Price: At Rs. 3500 (approx), the sea-side view comes very costly considering the other things are below average or outright bad. If you would like to have a sea-side view in Pondicherry, you can find better options on ECR at a cheaper price & certainly better food & services.

I had a good experience in this hotel the rooms are well maintained and with nice furniture’s. This hotel is located in beach and the best thing about this hotel is its staff they are very nice and helpful and the food was too good. The only thing which I did not like was that this hotel was under construction when I reached over there, hence I would think before recommending this hotel to anyone.

Price for the room I booked was too high as facilities provided were not at all up to the mark.

Happened to be booked in this place for a three-day meeting. Would have run-away the first night but for the inconvenience of moving a big group. The place is located with a good beach view. The management apparently has no clue of what minimum facilities could make this a really attractive destination. It is not cheap though! To start with, entrance is through a narrow lane which upsets you even before you have reached. Then you see the expanse of the property, the beach view and a basic-style reception which encourages you somewhat. But there is no welcome drink on arrival. However, the check in is quick. The real ordeal awaits you when you get to your room. No elevators: ok. No mini-fridge: ok. No tea-coffee machine: ok still! But not a cup or glass in the room! No hangers in the cupboard! The towels/linen are not clean! No wifi in the room! The TV has VERY limited options with one Indian English News channel. Did you expect BBC/CNN International? Needless to say, no regional channels either. No proper view of the sea. Later you discover that the complimentary breakfast is very basic. No fruit juice. Some watermelon slices. The Idli is served warm thankfully! Breakfast starts at 8:30. So forget an early outside trip. A morning tea in the room is charged Rs. 50 and once they brought two cups of tea when ordered for one and proceeded to charge for that. The food is spicy. The reception and room service answer the phone at limited hours. Never ever go near this place!

Our experience in the resort was not good at all, the manager Suresh offerred us two rooms and later denied, he broke his word. The resort is green and by the beach but rooms, food quality and service is again not good, it does make you kick yourself for choosing a sub standard place with your hard earned money and precious leaves that we get and want to spend it well.

Worst experience - Stay at the Nalla Eco Beach Resort at your own risk. Worst experience - Stay at the Nalla Eco Beach Resort at your own risk.

The Nalla Resort Pondicherry - Our Experience at the Nalla Resort in Pondicherry was one that we will never forget for a long time to come.... We were 4 couples and 3 children on a holiday which ended up being anything but fun. Rooms - upon check in, the Superior rooms booked by us were dirty, the bathroom still full of sand which must have been brought in by the previous guests, the balcony light in one of the rooms had a dead bird since we don't know how long and lizards. The beds were dirty and we had to get them to change the bed sheets and pillow covers.. no quilts were provided at the hotel and when we asked for quilts were provided with thin bed sheets which had holes the size of craters.. Food - the food provided by the hotel was substandard, delivered an hour and a half after placing the order, that too after we had to go into the kitchen and ask them for food for the children, and the same dish differed in taste and look when reordered... The paneer butter masala was brown when ordered the first time and red when ordered the second...The butter chicken was chicken nuggets in red gravy... The food completely tasteless...As a practice, all hotels give complimentary bottled water in the rooms at check in and every morning when doing room service. The hotel manager and staff agreed that they too practice this. However, we were not given any water on check in and after repeatedly requesting them for water, which they kept saying was chargeable in spite of the fact that they didn't provide the complimentary ones in the first place, they provided the water at 10:30 pm. Service and staff - Mr. Kumar, the manager of the place with whom we discussed our complaints with for the most part was accommodating... However their service concept was warped... 24X7 room service according to them was serving water after their kitchen closes at 10:30 pm.... 24X7 hot water in the bathroom means the hot water will be available only if the sun comes out because apparently they have solar water heaters, everything that should have been a part of the room if asked for was chargeable..Like quilts which were not provided in the room and when asked for was chargeable...No one except for Mr. Kumar on the staff knew the name of the owner when asked for...Mr. Kumar refused to give us the name of the owner after asking for it repeatedly. We had to take deluxe rooms after paying for Superior rooms because they were marginally better. However we were not refunded the amount payed for the superior room nor was any compensation received for bad service. We had a difficult and tough time with the facilities and the staff and eventually had to check out of Nalla and check in to another hotel paying way over our budget so that we could spend the remainder of our holiday and anniversary of one of the couples at a better place and peacefully, So when going to Pondicherry, stay at the Nalla Eco Beach Resort at your own risk

We booked this resort from 26 Jan (Check-in) to 28 Jan (Check out) 2017. The manager Suresh (7539922948) is a lousy character. He verbally ok'ayed our booking but never gave us anything in writing. Upon reaching the resort, the bugger denied our stay for two days to just one. After a verbal spat with him, Suresh repeatedly denied any bookings made for 2 days. I had no other option but to stay there for a day (Dreadfully) Now the rooms - They suck, with sarees acting as curtains. NO proper room service. NO good sea view (as they claim), ACs just about to die and beds as hard as rocks. The morning complementary breakfast was PATHETIC. I was happy to see that it's just not me who is complaining, but other visitors were also fighting for as small a thing as a loaf of bread. All in all, please don't ever go there and consider this as an honest first hand experience review.
