The rooms are of average standards. We had the most terrifying experience when we got 2 calls from the reception at the middle of night asking how many people were in the room. Firstly we were thoroughly shocked at the timing of the call, making matters worse there is no latch to the rooms from inside.(there is only a single lock, the duplicate key of which obviously resides with the management). We were so scared that we that we decided to immediately move to a New hotel (Jayaram, situated nearby) at the middle of night. Since I had already paid for 2 days at Pondicherry INN and I again had to buy a room at Jayaram, I had to spend twice the amount. Believe me I have traveled a lot (in India & abroad), but this was first incident of it's kind, pretty terrifying not to mention the loss of money. Definitely won't recommend it to single female travelers. The service was not that good either. We had to ask for the towels, soaps & drinking water ourselves.

The over all condition of the hotel is ok. Most of the time the receptionist was found absent.Intercom provided in the room was not working.The hotel is suitable of middle income people.

Hotel is at very good location but staff were not very cooperative as we want one extra mattress but the staff took more than 2 hours in giving that....and the washroom was also not very clean ...I will recommend this hotel only if ur budget is less

Rooms infested with bugs! Rooms infested with bugs!

i stayed one night in this place, i woke up in the middle of the night and my bed was covered in bugs, some were little weevil type things and there was a couple of cockroaches, they were on the pillows and under the sheets!!!! i immediately packed my things and found a few more cockroaches amongst my things as i did. I asked to be moved to another room and they kindly obliged, the new room however was full of mosquitoes. i stuck it out in this room until morning and left. The staff were nice and friendly and helped me to move rooms, but that amount of bugs and the fact they were all over the bed is not a good sign. Apart from that rooms were ok for the price, sheets were clean, but there was no hot water. I wouldn't want to stay here again because of the bug thing but the staff were nice so I really hope they fix things in the future for their sake. It is also located quite a few blocks from the sea front so if your here as a tourist you've got about a ten minute walk to get to where all the nice parts of pondicherry are.

We, a family of four had been at Pondicherry Inn on the 21st and 22nd of June 2013. We had initially been allotted a 3 bed bedroom and was said that an extra bed would be provided. On our arrival, we were told that the fan in the room was not working and that they would get it repaired in 2 hours, but it wasn't done at all.We got in to our room and found that the air conditioner was unable to provide quick cooling. We were told that all other rooms were occupied by the receptionist lady and the attender who came. At night, it was unable to provide any sort of cooling. However, the staff at night and the male receptionist(seems to be the head) allowed for a change of room. Remember, they had said all were occupied and 4 rooms were opened and shown to us. In the first room they showed, windows could not be closed. In the second room, there was no water in the taps. In the third room, A.C. wasn't proper. Finally, he told us he'll open the best room available and it was found convincing compared to the rest. The receptionist had offered us 2 double rooms at rupees 1500, the cost of a single 3-bed bedroom. The double rooms otherwise cost rupees 2000(2 * 1000). However, we decided to go with a double room and an extra bed. Accordingly,he had also told us that he would adjust the rates and provide us the room @rupees 1200. The following day the lady receptionist said it's not possible and that rupees 1400 would be charged. She was also pretending not to understand our language and told us so. After heated arguments, she called upon the receptionist who had offered us all this and while I spoke to him, he asked me who had offered us all this as though he didn't. And the lady receptionist's Tamil was understood by me, which meant that she clearly understood what we had told her. We were asked to pay the entire amount for the room on arrival. Otherwise, we would have vacated it at the middle of night. The water in the room was still too salty. The rooms are small and there is not much difference in the size of a 3-bedded room and 2-bedded room, rather than the difference in pricing of rupees 500. The double room finally provided was larger than the triple initially provided. The floor seemed a lot sticky as well. To add to our miseries, the lift too had stuck up in between. The room also has a poor locking system.

We had stayed in this hotel on 06/04/2013 to 07/04/2013 and the experience was terrible. They had charged Rs.1500 for 4 persons stay and A/C didn't work properly no room service, no towel or soaps were given top of that they had asked us to pay the room rent in advance. The receptionist is an old idiot..Will not select this hotel on my next pondy visit.

So far it has been the most terrible experience as far as staying in a hotel is concerned. The rooms are terrible with horrendous stink of seafood creeping in and the location is just a miss. And that is not even the problem, we had booked through Makemytrip and we were supposed to pay 2500 bucks for 2 days and when we checked out finally we were charged for 3 days (Somehow the check out became 24hrs of check in, we had checked in at 11 AM and checked out at 11:15 mins) For 15 mins delay we were being charged for the next day.. The receptionist (An illiterate woman) started cursing us in Tamil an alien language to us and created a scene and we were harassed for 3 hours. In short this was the worst experience and my otherwise wonderful Pondy trip was ruined due to this excuse for an hotel. P.S We have filed a case under Consumer Court against Pondicherry Inn as well as Makemytrip and we will make sure that these thugs pays the price of fleecing unsuspecting tourists!
