Nice Hotel directly at the promenade.
The rooms are comfortable. Excellent food is served in the restaurant on top of the building.
What we really disliked was the smelly water flowing along the road at the entrance of the Hotel.
Situated almost at the end of the serene rock Beach, in the charming area of White Town, you won't need to go anywhere else to get a feel of Pondicherry. The vehicle free zone of Rock Beach Road coupled with a huge number of European style cafes and colorful houses, makes this the perfect location to stay for people who are here just to relax. The rooms are near perfect, excellent quality furnishings and toiletries, though they lacked the European charm that one might expect in these surroundings. Even though we opted for non sea facing room, we got a side facing room which offered a decent view to the beach. They have a huge spread of English cum Indian breakfast, with sumptuous english delicacies such as pancakes, danishes, muffins, etc which were surprisingly quite good even after comparison with all the fancy cafes around. The housekeeping staff are polite, but there's that extra effort of hospitality that is missing, which makes a stay truly memorable. For example, you have to keep asking for clean towels, pantry refills. When we reached a little early and requested for early check in, they weren't very cooperative even though they had empty rooms. They should be open to bending their rules a little to make guests comfortable, especially if its not costing them anything. Also, do not use the QuickBook(pay later) option on their website, as they do not control it and all of a sudden it will tell you to pay, with a very bad cancellation policy. These small things go a long way in making a vacation memorable. If they improve on that, it would surely be one of the best places to stay in White Town.
The place is absolutely amazing and splendid. Location is just perfect and you can go for walks on the beach at your ease. Ambiance is wonderful. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Food is good and the staff is courteous and polite.
However I would point at one negative experience we had at the hotel that made me rate it an "average". On our last day, we came back from sightseeing around 3. When we went for lunch the restaurant manager rudely said there is no food available and that we should leave. However on asking the reception they told us about the snacks that we could order. The attitude of restaurant manager was extremely rude and insulting. Not acceptable from such a place.
Stayed @ promenade for a 2 day trip, the best bit of staying here is the location and the view from the restaurant.. it is just sooo perfect..
Other than that, rooms were good, well maintained and with decent service.. Spa services were also good here.. the pool is small but nice for a quick dip..
Food at the restaurant was good but limited options for alacarte..
The boutique was nice as well just in case you forgot to pick somethings at auroville!
The check-in at 2 is a dampener, however they tried to get us slightly early check-in.
The rooms were located facing the ocean. Updated bathrooms. The upholstery was of pure leather which looked very rich and the wooden flooring added to the richness . The breakfast had so many things to choose, one gets confused.
