Hotel is located in a convenient place. Our room was dirty, it was not cleaned properly. The service provided by the staff in the restaurant was very slow. Even for a 1 glass of water we had to call them several times. The breakfast was decent in taste. We won't stay in this property again in future.

the room first allotted was not satisfactory. even on a request to change the room the ppl were not co-operative, only after talking to 2 other guys there did we get a better view room. the food was unreasonably expensive, also the menu options were not great. however the property of the resort is wonderfull!!!...but for the service we recd, the place is worth visiting.

Good property. Average Food and Service Good property. Average Food and Service

I stayed at Poovar Island Resort with my wife and kid for 1 night. The most amazing part about staying at this property is the fact that one has to take a boat to reach the hotel. And the entire journey in the boat which lasts for about 20 minutes is through a very dense plantation of coconut trees on both the sides tilting towards the water body in the quest for seeking sunshine. The boat service is provided by the hotel free of charge. Upon reaching the bank where the hotel property starts, a traveler is greeted by an array of floating villas which are actually very good cottages situated on top of the water body. On reaching the reception area, we were greeted by a lady who put tilak on our forehead. The entire hotel is so green and dense with coconut trees and other plantations that it gives a soothing effect to ones eyes. We were allotted the room pretty quickly upon reaching the hotel and they also arranged steamed apple for my kid within no time. The hotel room was pretty big and had all the amenities. They had provided a couch and a separate center table in the room. The bathroom was good, though small in size. There was ample space in the room to keep ones luggage without over-crowding the room. The hotel has a decent swimming pool with very clean water. It has a special sunken Pool Bar at the swimming pool. They also have a childrens play area where a few swings are located. They also have a small rabbit farm where 14-15 rabbits are kept along with a small enclosure where a few hens are there. There is also an archery range for those interested in outdoor activities. The hotel also provides a 1 hour cruise through Poovar at around Rs. 1250-1500. However, I would suggest to get it done through boat operators outside the hotel as one can get it done from them at around Rs. 500-750. Their restaurant is called Tiffins which offers a choice of Kerala, Indian, Continental and Asian cuisines. Both buffet and a-la-carte food is served at this restaurant. I had dinner at Tiffins and found it very good in terms of taste and preparation. We ordered a Rajasthani style spicy chicken dish along with malai kofta. While we were apprehensive that the dishes are completely North Indian and how the taste would be at this restaurant, we were in for a pleasant surprise when we tasted the dishes. The portion size was sumptuous and the taste was absolutely bang-on. However, I would say that the interiors and the setting of the restaurant is pretty boring and dull, which does not make it a pleasurable experience to have food there, especially dinner. Also, the staff was completely handicapped in understanding English and was always asking someone else from their team to come to the table who was able to understand English a bit, which kept us waiting for quite some time. The cost of dinner buffet at this restaurant was Rs.750 plus taxes. Overall, I would say that while the hotel is very lush and green, I think it leaves very little for a guest to explore the property on his own as one does not get to see and understand the grandeur of the property clearly. What one gets to perceive is that there is very little open area outside ones room which can be explored, which is a limitation. I have stayed at properties of the size of Poovar Island Resort but they are far more spacious and open in their setting and ambience. Would recommend staying at other resorts in Poovar due to this reason. Also, they have a check-out time of 11 AM which I found very absurd as most hotels offer a check-out time of 12 Noon.

Nestled among the lush greenery away from the hustle and bustle of the city this resort is a perfect getaway for family and couples to spend some quality time with nature. Quite a huge resort, this resort is placed perfectly in the Poovar island looking at both backwaters and the sea which can be reached by boat from jetty 32 km from Trivandrum airport. The resort is very well maintained with huge and beautiful gardens and lovely floatels on backwater overlooking the sea. The service desk is very prompt and welcoming. Facilities are very good providing complimentary boat pickup and drop to jetty and sea for guests. Food is reasonably priced with lots of varieties which will certainly raise your taste buds. They have live counters as well serving lip smacking food. The Ayurveda village is a perfect place to receive a massage and relax which provides lots of ayurveda therapies as well. Sprawling across acres of lush greenery, the place is just great for some awesome photography and bird watching. Lots of activities in and around the resort which makes it an ideal holidaying spot for family with kids and couples ... Just pack your bags and experience the serenity and tranquility of Poovar island resort on your next trip.

Payment Issues Payment Issues

by Lorraine M on March 3, 2017

The location is very lovely, people friendly, room was clean...however, when I went to check out, they wanted me to pay...AGAIN. I had a confirmed booking reservation, complete with payment showing as "Paid in Full". They informed me the site I used was not yet 'active', therefore they had not received my payment. BUT they DID receive my booking. So how is the site 'not active' when it was their direct booking site? I ended up having to pay, and now must go through my bank once home, to cancel the original payment. Not impressed. The gift shop was fabulous. Incredibly gorgeous jewellery and top quality stones.
