I stayed at the hotel during 3rd week of October 2019. The person who attended me at the reception was really good in behavior, friendly nature and provided the room according to my convenience . The bedroom was well furnished, clean and beautiful, Every other facility was also nice.
The room No - 109
EXCELLENT...Excellent...excellent in the RESORT
I had visited this property in 1987 and after 32 years visited this property for a day in August, That time I visited with my mom, dad and brother (mom passed away) - this time with my 7 year old kid only. Knew exactly what to expect. I stayed in a Deluxe room which possibly had one of the best views in the resort. Ideally, you should try staying in a Deluxe room or a Nicobarese hut if you want to enjoy this hotel. A lot of signages and things have remained the same for 32 years, some have changed such as the restaurant and the bar that has come up. Prices are moderate - offering good views of the harbour, good lawns - I enjoyed my short stay there.
The worst hotel in Port Blair. This hotel ruined our first day in Port Blair by giving these pathetic room (shown in pictures).
Very unhygienic and not comfortable at all. We requested the reception to clean the room and change the linen. And we had to wait for 2 hours.
This hotel is booked for us by Yatra.com as part of our tour package (another worst customer service and cheaters). Be careful they book such kind of dirty hotels to ruin the trips. Yatra.com booked 4 rooms for us and all the rooms had same condition.
Megapode resort has so much potential but at the hands of the terrible maintenance, it is an absolute disaster. We took the sea view cottage where most of the view of the sea was blocked by the tall trees. Many of the rooms were filled with insects and dogs loitered around our cottage and tried to get in. Dogs were found licking the same plate that we are served. One of the rooms that my friends stayed in had so many insects that they couldn't sleep all night because their body was itching the entire night coz of some unknown insects on the bed. When I asked if the coffee place was open at the reception, I was told yes but it was locked and none of the staff even working near the coffee place knew this information. The room price was 3k is money down the drain since the room doesn't even have basic amenities like dental kit, shaving kit, hair dryer, toilet paper, disposable footwear etc. The towels were dirty and smelly. I had the worst experience here and will never return here again. The WiFi was available only at the reception and even there it was so poor that I couldn't even do a simple google search during the entire stay.
We booked standard rooms which i must say were really pathetic and with foul smell, we requested for room upgrade however, due to group booking other rooms were full. Otherwise view from hotel was really amazing and the restaurant was also ok ok, on day one we ordered dry cake and it had fungus on it.
I would specially like to mention about Gopal Bhaiya. He is very helpful and is a center of information. Being a local from Andaman he is very well versed with all the locations, timings, details in and around port blair. We took a lot of details from him regarding local tourist destinations. He does this all for free, just to help tourists. On our last day in Port blair, he picked us from the hotel and dropped us to Central jail while taking care of our luggage. He also helped us in booking govt ferry tickets. As well as he can also arrange for hotel rooms, bookings for havelock and neil and ferries including govt and private, with very reasonable charge.
He is a great human and very helpful in nature. Do not hesistate to contact him when you are in port blair. He is a one stop shop for everything.
I am sharing his number below:
