The location and ambience of the hotel is good but the service and the quality of food ( specially lunch)and level of knowledge of the Hotel staff was terrible. To sum up it is not a five star property in any aspect.

Heritage with item songs Heritage with item songs

by natgeek on November 19, 2016

The fort is anything but a heritage site. Also, it's called a fort, but it's at most a big mansion with fort-like appearance. They market it as a heritage location, but the "heritage" starts and ends with the trumpets and beating drums when you arrive. The hotel blares vulgar Hindi item songs throughout the afternoon and evening, EVERY day. When we complained that it was spoiling the ambience, all the management and reception staff had to say was they play the music because the traditional Marathi music gets boring. We've complained multiple times and yet there's no redressal of the situation. The management doesn't care. And they have Karaoke nights where someone croons at loud volume right in the area where rooms are located, till late in the night. The rooms are simple, definitely smaller than the appearance in photos, ACs sometimes work, sometimes don't. Power connections break often. The trek guide for the morning trek was good, and the restaurant and restaurant staff are the only saving grace of otherwise a vulgarisation of a historical site.

Heritage with lot of activities ! Heritage with lot of activities !

The only FORT in Maharashtra which is converted into a beautiful property by the Kamats. Location : Fort is not so uphill as you would expect but just off the main road with a little bit of elevation. Would be green in the surroundings in monsoon and very beautiful then but we went in the winters so was yellow all around the hills surrounding the fort. The entry to the fort and welcome with Tutari music is really nice and traditional. You feel royal and nice to be given such a warm welcome. We picked up the Hill view room with a balcony and those are the best modern rooms. The rooms without balcony have a small window for sunlight so wouldn't recommend those. I don't recommend the tents as well since they are outside the fort premises near the garden. The best place to live would be the Maharaja and Rani suit but its with a tradional decor. Rooms are neat and well maintained and housekeeping does a good job. There are so many activities that you can keep yourself occupied the whole day. We started of with the early morning trek and it was very beautiful. We spotted beautiful sunrise and deers as well. We did Rock climbing downhill on our way back. The guide is excellent and very helpful. There were lot of activities during lunch to keep my son and myself busy. Karaoke, Mavla painting , pottery, Mehndi all complementary. There are more activities like learning to play tutari, rangoli making, etc etc all complementary. The swimming pool on the rooftop is nice and good place to relax as well as the Fort gardens with swings. You can drape yourself in a nine yard saree as well ! Food is good for Local cuisine and North Indian food. Very good spread and I was told mostly local cuisine is made with stuff grown locally. Italian and Chaat in the Payatha restaurant not recommend. You could try that at Chajja. The audio tour of the fort and museum is excellent and a must do. Its complimentary for hotel guests. If you are Pune you could do a day trip to the Fort and have lunch and come back could be a good one day picnic. From Mumbai stay for a relaxing two days !

We stayed at Fort Jadhavgadh between 29th October, 2016 to 31st October, 2016 i.e. 2 nights / 3 days package which was great. The experience of staying in this heritage hotel was unique. The ambience is well maintained in the fort which gives you majestic feel. The swimming pool is great place to unwind and forget your stress. The morning trek is must have when you are staying here and the museum is a must see which has great collection. The food is also tasty with lot of variety and good combinations made it more interesting. The stay was excellent and will cherish the memories of staying in a fort.

This is a nice place which gives u a feel of staying in a fort with all the modern amenities. Huge gardens and open space.. big terrace.. beautiful sunset and set amidst a village this is a popular place for 24 hrs coffee shop too.. enjoy a little drive from Pune to be greeted in traditional way.. I havent really dined in here so I will reserve my comments on food for now..

Royal ambience, exceptional hospitality, oodles of activities Royal ambience, exceptional hospitality, oodles of activities

I have always been a budget traveler and Fort Jadhavgadh was one of the few lavish spends that I opted to make for the positive things I have been hearing about the place. And after visiting it, I feel that it is worth every penny spent. As you tread through the rural path of an unassuming village, your worries come to a rest the moment you enter the resort. Apparently the first and only heritage hotel in Maharashtra, Fort Jadhavgadh might not be as royal as the palace hotels of Rajasthan but this 17th century fort is aptly converted into a luxury resort with the best of facilities. So while it gives you an authentic feel of the bygone era, it also offers the finest amenities of modern times. Unlike popular tourists spots, there are no sightseeing options around Fort Jadhavgadh but thankfully the resort has so much to offer that one never feels the need to step out for the two days of your average stay. Its important to plan your to-do list as soon as you reach the resort as they have a wide range of activities in store. Once you settle down, ideally start with the complimentary audio tour of the Fort and the museum to get familiar with the expansive property. History aficionados would love the visit to their meticulously maintained museum. Follow it up with activities like mehendi, pottery, bullock cart rides (on weekends only), rangoli, learning to play the tutari (traditional Maharashtrian musical instrument) or indulge in sports on their three sprawling lawns (all complimentary). Then there are paid activities like segway, cycling (Rs 172) and saree/dhoti draping. Attend the fort door closing and door opening ceremonies at 6:30pm and 9:30am respectively where the fort representatives give you a glimpse into the history of the fort (built by Maratha General Pilaji Jadhavrao, the Senapati in Bajiraos army). Early next morning give a shot at their trekking session. Even if you are not an ardent trekker, this 4-km, 2-hour, easy-going trek will mesmerize you with the beautiful views of sunrise, the surrounding topography, fresh air and definite sightings of deer. Come back to participate in the morning aarti at their ancient Ganesh temple. Thereafter you can relax in their rooftop swimming pool which they claim is temperature-controlled at around 32C yet cool enough in the chilly terrace breeze. If you want to pamper yourself more, they have exotic spa therapies (foot spa @ Rs 1200, body spa @ Rs 2500, couple spa @ Rs 4500 + taxes). Dinner is accompanied with musical nights (though only on weekends). My visit at the onset of the winter was just perfect with the chill not being biting cold and the grounds dry post the monsoon for outdoor activities. There are different types of accommodations with rooms and suites being inside the fort and tents and cottages being outside the fort premises. The tents are an economical option but in no way a compromise its spacious enough with all amenities. Food is not served in the tents but they have 24x7 room service. And though the tents are nestled in nature, they are surprisingly pest free. Wifi is offered at additional charge but you would rather want to disconnect from the world here. A major highlight of the place is its top-notch hospitality that makes you feel at home. The place is sufficiently staffed and everyone from the front-desk, security person, attendants to the bellboy are soft-spoken and always willing to help. A special mention of Deepak Taledar who served as our perfect guide on the morning trek! Even the museum guide (Tukaram, if I am not wrong) was expressive and eloquent enough. There are no complaint areas for the resort per se. I have a few simple suggestions though if they are interested. The door opening and closing ceremonies are addressed in chaste Marathi. A speech in English or Hindi might reach to a wider non-Marathi speaking patrons. Since the property is so spread out, maps or miniature models can be setup at several places to guide the visitors. The morning trek can be more fun if some seating and snack arrangements are made at the top of the hillocks. Having said that, Fort Jadhavgadh is a unique holiday experience one should not miss!
