Hotel Golden Dust in Puri is very poorly managed. I am very much disappointed by the hotel managers. Mr. Majumdar and Mr. Mukherjee appeared to be very much reluctant to cater better service to the patrons. I stayed in the room no. 304 & 305 (or may be 204 and 205 cannot recollect exactly) with my family members. On our arrival at Puri on 27th Dec 09 morning, we had to stay for almost 2 hours in the reception, for room allocation. When we checked in the room it was not at all cleaned. One of the rooms did not have a master key, hence, on 29th Dec evening, my son mistakenly kept the key inside and pulled the door from outside, so it got locked. Mr. Mukherjee appeared to blame us for such mishappening. I wonder had why the hotel management did not take pain to arrange for a master key immediately after it was lost(!!!). The hotel is located on the beach, however, there is no passage made to approach the beach from the road. The road along the beach near the hotel is badly damaged due to Tsunami (so was told by them). But funniest thing is the hotel management did not bother at least to arrange enough illumination at least in front of the hotel. There was no hot water facility, in the bathroom. The hotel was from outside looks good with nice garden, the rooms are ok, but until the management takes proper care of their patrons, I don't think anyone will book the same hotel for their next trip to Puri.

The Hotel Golden Dust is far away from Puri railway station. The autorickshaw claims Rs. 100 to Rs. 150. The hotel is also in a distant place from Swargadwar, the main market of Puri. Everytime it is troublesome to get rickshaw or autorickshaw. But I must have to say that the ambience of the hotel is good. Service and food of this hotel are also good. From the rooms, the sea is not visible. The hotel stand on the widespread bay of Bengal at Marine Drive Road. The seabeach in front of the hotel is calm, quiet and clean. We enjoyed bathing in the sea. The staff of this hotel are friendly. The bathroom in each room is quite large. As there is no geyser, the boys supplied hot water in bucket.If any one likes loneliness ,solitude and privacy, and does not mind the distance from the main town, he should stay here. It should be noted that there is no light post in the sea beach. So, in the evening I felt annoyed. There is no covered car parking in this hotel. But everyone keeps his car outside the gate of the hotel. I had to pay a lot of money to the rickshawpulleres for going to the market or temple. and there was no problem at all. Lastly, I have to say that if anyone does not care for the distance from the main market, he may be suggested for staying at this hotel. Puri is an overcrowded place, so the solitude of Marine Drive Road will create mental peace.

We went to this hotel on 1st January and we were mesmerised to see the beach right next to the hotel. We were very warmly greeted by the manager. The room which they gave 205 had the balcony with great sea view. Room had all the basic amenities also complimentary breakfast was served. The food was very tasty and nicely decorated. All the staffs were friendly and was quick to serve you. On the next day they also arranged us customised tour for sightseeing. Overall all the experience was top notch and memorable. Thanks to hotel for such wonderful trip.

This moderate hotel which has a great location, has been completely ruined by the people who run it. The manager has no idea of what is happening but always has an excuse ready. The poor attendants, work in morbid fear of that man. The hotel is dirty and it stinks. The other factor is that they DO NOT HONOR and booking done on BOOKING.COM. Please call to ensure you have a room ready. There is no geyser facility, but the poor boys will get you a bucket of hot water, when asked for. There is sever lack of maintenance. Our bedsheets were stained, and after a lot of shouting they managed to get fresh ones. The blankets stink, and there were NO toileteries in all days we statyed there. The only thing that the manager ensures is that you should have paid for the room up ahead in advance. The room A1 has excellent view of the sea, but that is the only room that has such a view. From every other room you get to see the sea between 2 buildings. I will defintiely never go there again, and would discourage other travellers to go there unless you have no other option left. The hotel does arrange transportation, but it is loot. For a trip that should cost you 1000, it can go upto 8000 depending upon the season and your desperation.

Cons - 1. We had asked for 2 rooms on the same floor but they did not provide that and we had to wait for almost an hour before we got the rooms 2. They don't clean the rooms and bathrooms or change the bed sheets unless being told 3. No faucet in the bathroom. The position of the commode is awkward! 4. They take half of the food orders and forget about the rest. They provide food very late 5. In the review of the hotel, they gave a picture where there was a sitting area with sea view. But there is no place like that. There is a lawn with chairs and tables but no sea view. 6. They said free wifi in the hotel facilities but wifi is available only in the reception, not in the rooms. I am travelling whole of India and in Puri I came here to stay in this hotel for 2 nights. I booked online and got a good deal and the hotel was located just on the sea beach. The area here was peaceful compared to the other side of Puri. If you are coming for ultimate relaxation and want to breathe clean air then this location is best.Hotel is quite good and staffs are supportive and the room also had a sea view balcony. I was thrilled to hear the sound of the waves breaking on the shore by sitting just in the balcony. WiFi speed was good and sandwiches were tasty.
