Interesting Architecture Interesting Architecture

by jete_pari on December 31, 2016

A nice hotel with a very interesting architecture which is themed after the ruins of Nalanda. 1. Secured, large parking lot but gets easily filled up by tour groups 2. Restaurant was interesting and we had Japanese buffet, Indian buffets etc. depending what tour groups were visiting. 3. We took a single four bedded room on the second floor. There are no lifts, though it was not an issue for us. 4. The room was large, clean had Japanese decor, wooden floor, wooden ceiling. 5. Bathroom was really tiny and very uncomfortable with a separate room for the toilet. The bathtub was painted with paint peeling off. The commode is impossibly small and people can get hurt easily because of jutting out basins and water taps on both sides within a three feet width. No commode showers. 6. Beds were bit small in length, so people over 6 ft may have a problem. Overall nice hotel, but the bathroom killed it. Felt it should have been cheaper given the no lift and bathroom situation. Food was reasonably priced and good. The hotel was made with Japanese tourists in mind only but I guess they forgot that they were building it in India.

Tired looking. Tired looking.

There was frog in the toilet when I arrived! The bath needs to be replaced, it had been painted to cover the worn out enameled surface. The room was tired looking.Staff were friendly. The hotel was originally built for Japanese travellers and the room has an interesting, if a bit dark style.

A marvellous hotel falling short of its true potential A marvellous hotel falling short of its true potential

by Mukul K on October 17, 2016

Though living away for long; I am a native of Rajgir and have fond memories of the time when this hotel was getting built some 30 years ago. It was built with Japanese collaboration. You can still see soem Japanese furnishing and interiors of excellent quality. The central prayer hall has a Budha statue which was brought in 3 parts from japan and assembled here. The architecture of the hotel looks eutopian but if you look closely you will find that it is inspired by the local archaeological sites like Maniyaar Matt and ruins of Nalanda university. I recently stayed in the hotel for the first time. Now it has lost its Japanese charm as it has been taken over by Indian owners and they have removed much of the Japanese interiors of the guestrooms. The cleanliness and the service was spot on. Very well maintained. What I felt sad about was that the hotel was not playing to its full potential. Though almost the entire hotel was empty and it was leanest of the seasons; they did not have a mechanism to adjust the prices and promote better occupancy during lean period. Staff were not sophisticated and fluent in English. A senior manager role seems to be missing in the hotel and is pretty much run by people at low rug. A lot of good things can be done with this hotel and the stay here can be made much more exciting and memorable .

Nice Hotel with Good ambiance and excellent Service Nice Hotel with Good ambiance and excellent Service

by Sumit K on June 11, 2016

I was here on a business meeting in Rajgir on 10th and 11th June. I must admit that the hotel is located at a silent and beautiful Location. The construction was very much architectural and you will feel that you are still living in the era of ancient Nalanda University. Rooms are spacious with all modern amenities. The only thing that need a replacement in room is TV. The Staffs are very responsive and excellent in Service. Food is Tasty and Hotel is having a spacious Restaurant. I must Admit the Hotel is good but certain equipments such and AC, TV, UPS etc need replacement. We faced problem during our presentation and the same need to be corrected soon.

Stay one night as we were there for pilgrimage. Rooms are clean but not much modernize as stuff are quite old. Should have renovation and maintenance in place. Food are great and service is wonderful. Overall it is nice place to spend a night.

Demo Trip Rooms with a balcony might be nice in summer. It was too cold in January to use it.
