Interesting hotel in a wooden area unfortunately when we stayed it was cold so eating outside was not particular pleasant no fault of the hotel. The Food was good with varied choices. Our room was in a cabin in the wood spacious and clean, lovely gardens and walks.Staff attentive and peasant
There is no doubt that by Indian standards this hotel is not cheap, but it is such a wonderful place. As nature-lovers, we basked in the calm and quiet, broken only by the calls of birds and the sound of the stream which gushes through the complex. Individual cottages are spacious and immaculate, furnished in "heritage" style, each with a verandah where you can sit (with the best masala chai I have had anywhere in India) and watch the birds and squirrels. The restaurant, which serves delicious food, is set in a central thatched pavilion. Dappled shade from the many trees adds to the charm of the retreat, which is set in 125 acres of what was once the Maharani's Orchard. If you want to walk and explore beyond the hotel boundary, you may be lucky enough (as we were) to be accompanied by the manager, who used to be a professional naturalist. In his company we saw many birds and traces of animals such as antelopes, leopards and wild boar, as well as wild orange and mango trees, even a couple of sandalwood trees. Rising early to watch birds, I also saw a herd of antelopes through a gap in the trees. Relaxing into a slower way of life, we played terrible table tennis and slightly better giant chess, but we did not feel energetic enough for badminton and we did not take advantage of the small pool with its waterfall. If you are looking for excitement, this is not your place (there is no wifi, please note), but if you want to immerse yourself in the exotic natural surroundings of India, it really is.
The location of the hotel is excellent since it is just off the main road and in a lush forested area with lots of birds and a canal passing through the property. The rooms are in cottages spread over the property and so you have a lot of privacy. The decor in the rooms is decent and could have been a bit more luxurious.
We, me and my wife visited this place about a year or two back. After a hectic Rajasthan tour on car, all we wanted was some peace and quite. Man! the resort just gave us that. The team led by Chef chandan Singh, and a dapper young man who was the manager, the three days we spend there was heaven. The place is lovely, peaceful and staff's hospitality is AAA. There was also another Singh, who was the resident bird watcher. Amazing knowledge. The waiting staff at times appear gratuitous. But they are not. Most of them genuinely seek to make you happy. I just hope they remain that way.
