I highly recommend the place, if you are in Ranthambore this is the only place to be in. Owner & his family are very friendly.

Good points are that the hotel is close to the national park and the rooms are good. Bad points are the management is opportunistic and dull. There are no activities where so many could be possible like folk music sessions, child friendly activities. They were charging twice as much for a national park trip whereas they're much closer and they're also a bit too biased in favor of Britishers and Americans, hence food etc everything was as per their taste. Basically they're running it in a way that it is low maintenance, but I think other resorts are much better with cheaper costs. The one I noticed with a lot of buzz was tiger den a stone's throw away and we were repenting why we didn't book it since it was cheaper and available as well. and by the way, there is no room service which is ridiculous.

A disappointment A disappointment

by Belinda R on January 22, 2017

What a let down. After a gruelling journey to reach it, we were looking forward to settling in and relaxing. Reception reeked of cigarette smoke, it was cold, basic and uninviting. We cleared reception and entered a courtyard area from where the rooms could be accessed. This space was pretty and looked promising. When we got to our room, as we opened the door, it smelt dank and damp. Although it was large, had the basic furniture and amenities and even 1 and a half bathrooms, it was not welcoming at all. The floors were marble, which made it icy cold. There was a small heater which took two days to warm the room. A second heater cause a fuse to trip on numerous occasions, so we gave up. The sheets were poor quality and did not look or feel fresh. Towels and robes were grey. Hot water was not always available. Breakfast buffet was minimal and the organisation of cooked on demand items, led to long queues on several occasions. The staff were friendly and helpful, but lacked any formal training. I would not recommend this place and seriously question the star rating. I was happy to leave.

Amazing Stay! Amazing Stay!

by Aleisha J on January 21, 2017

Stayed here for over New Years, had such a wonderful time. The property is beautiful and has a very authentic feel reminiscent of an old British Raj-esque hunting lodge. We stayed in both the regular room and the 'tent.' The tent was very unique and surprisingly luxurious. The rooms are spartan in some ways but very comfortable. If you're looking for a westernized holiday inn-ish experience, go elsewhere. The food was outstanding, typical Rajasthani cuisine with panchmeli dal and papad sabzee among other items. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and arrange things like the safari tours. Even saw a tiger at the park in winter which is very unusual! Special mentions to Mr. Upender Singh, Mr. Pramod Rathod for ensuring we had a fantastic stay. New Years Eve was wonderful, had a sumptuous dinner, they lit a fire pit outside the dining area, kebabs on the grill, traditional Rajasthani folk singers. The owner Mr. Balendu Singh came around and talked with everyone, incredibly gracious and classy gentleman who has a love and knowledge of the area that is evident. Loved having morning tea on the upper veranda overlooking the neighboring hills. Would definitely stay here again!

Great staff beautiful property but disappointing Great staff beautiful property but disappointing

I would like to respond to the managements response to Robert C's review. We are the other couple who you mention by name in your response. We hesitated to write a negative review in your book. The property is beautiful and your staff is excellent. The food was not very good. We wondered if it was because there are few people staying. We had a very negative experience on the safaris and do understand it has nothing to do with Dev Villas. Nevertheless it is worth mentioning as this is why most people go to your area.

DON'T STAY HERE !! DON'T STAY HERE !!

by Robert C on January 12, 2017

We spent two nights here mid January and wished we hadn't. Staff is friendly, but the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Rooms were not clean, food was inconsistent and as a friendly reminder two days later we experienced severe illness from our food intake. Overall, Ranthambore is a dump, and Dev Vilas fits into this category. If you are coming to see tigers, go elsewhere.

Dissapointing Dissapointing

by rogerlingley on January 11, 2017

Not sure of rating but I would say 2-3 star. In peak season out of around 40 rooms only 4 was occupied. Very tired place to stay and needs a major overhaul. Service was good and the added extra hot water bottles in bed whist we were at dinner was special. But as there was no heating in 4degree temperatures we needed them as the little fan heater did absolutely nothing to keep the room warm. As was full board there was limited choice of food, but they tried their best with limited resources. Personally I would try another hotel with a little more added luxury. Sorry Dev.....

Demo Trip Tents if you want something different. Rooms were incredible though and quiet everywhere so that isn't an issue.

by famadven on June 16, 2016

Demo Trip Though all rooms are spacious, if travelling in a family, ask for the rooms with the double Queen Beds.
