Rooms are very spacious and the bathroom is also large. if they provide space for keeping the toileteries in the bath room, it will be convenient. So will be the provision of bath curtains. The location is not great - approach roads are poor and the place is away from the main road. Options for food are very limited and you have to eat in the room only.

Hi !! I recently visited Salem, Tamilnadu with my family. I found out there was a Service Apartment in Salem through Trip Advisor. To my surprise, this place was really a lot better than what I expected from a small town like Salem. The biggest & costliest room where you could accommodate 8 to 11 people easily is just Rs. 2,900. really good service. I haven't rated them at 5 because, you had to ask for an refrigerator & only then will they provide you one. Their induction stove wasn't working, but they allowed us to use their kitchen. Wifi wasn't working when we got there. But they allowed us to use their LAN cabled system. Even after all this I've given them 4 because, you can expect anything better than this in Salem for this cost. Nice place. If you happen to go to Salem, try this place. :)
I recently stayed here (in April 2012) for 2 nights with my family (2 adults and 2 girl children both above 10). For rs 3000 (incld taxes) a night i got a clean, spacious 2 bedroom apt with hall and kitchenette with A/c. The apt complex (all of which are service apts) is located in the heart of salem (very near to the 5 roads junction) but inside a residential area (would be about 500mts from the the main road). It has basic reception facility and security. They have room service restaurant serving a limited menu (we used it for b/f which was good and lunch -> Ok) but if u prefer a proper restaurant u could just venture to the main roads. Being mobile (having a vehicle at your disposal) would help since reaching the main road by walk (during the night with limited visibility; street lights are not that great) to catch some transport can put some people off. I don't think it's a big issue since most people would start at a decent evening hour for night outs and come back in the vehicle (public or personal) anyways. I didn't see anything around that would make me feel unsafe in the neighborhood. Salem itself has a lot of power problems so frequent unpredictable cuts happen. The complex has a generator to run the fans but not the a/c. So people who are very specific about the latter (especially in the summer) may have an issue. Staff was generally helpful although they could do a lot better with keeping some tourist information and lay of the land information handy. Overall i would surely for the price, size, cleanliness & accessibility. i didn't see any fitness center or pool etc. If those are important than this may not be the place. They do have wireless internet access in the room for a charge of Rs 50 per hr (which was reasonable).
I was travelling through tamil nadu with my family and two friends and thus was looking for a place to stay during the night stop at Salem. I narrowed down on this place due to the availability of a three bedroom apartment at a fairly reasonable rate. The location is very central and surprisingly quiet. The apartment was fairly clean and had all the facilities including room service and wifi. I thought this was good value for money.
