Broken Myth .... Broken Myth ....

by Amit R on October 18, 2017

After reading so many positive reviews on this Apple Orchard Camp at Sangla We stayed there for 2 nights on 12 th nd 13 th October......Lets a " Reality Check " on this Camp : 1) Location : Simply superb.Amidst Apple Orchard and beside Baspa River in a tranquil ambience full of greenery. In fact , ambience of this place somehow hide or " suppressed" all the shortcomings of it !! 2) Food: The package included MAP plan or All meals and decent food quality. But surprisingly there is lack of Consistency in Food quality as both of the Owner and Manager were absent on the second day.We brought trout fish under the guidance of friendly nd strict Manager Mr Siv Sing ji and they cooked it just well without any variety in food or quality !!...One don't have any choice if the tourists are less....!!!!... Unprofessional approach indeed. 3) Room : Tents are equipped with basic facilities and good enough , but at night We felt chilly cold in Tent.We better relaxed in Newly built cottage top floor which provided panoramic views of Batseri village and snow peaks. 4)) Service nd Hospitality : Honestly speaking, We were hurt by the way of the dealings of Booking and service .The young staffs tried hard in amateurish way.Still, its quite good .But a few things just seemed tormenting and disappointing to me. First of all, After arrival in the Camp the Whole attention was shifted to get the Amount Fully paid at First then check in despite I have sent 60% amount in Advance !!........There is lack of clarity in Booking too as I have recieved 2 mails of same package and ultimately the Owner took the Maximum one( as per mail) !!.... Second , Always Warned nd instructed my 4 years plus Twins Kids not to Touch or even pluck a Single Apple otherwise We will be "fined" Rs 500 to 2000/ for each Time and could be sent off from the Camp !!.... Utterly Surprised nd Shocked of such infringement on Freedom of Kids in " Dev Bhumi " and could not find sufficient justification except , " the orchard was sold to thikedars "...!!!!.... Kids don't know about Profit or Loss of buisness....Kids are Gods greatest Gifts better than an Apple or an Orchard or sense of pride of " Crorepati "...!!!!!...... I respect their buisness terms nd conditions on Apple ....but such obligations just hurt as " infringement on freedom" of kids.....!!.... Luckily , my kids being convinced by buisness necessity of the Farm did not pick or pluck any Apple and instead satisfied with playing with stones and sticks among thousands of fallen nd rotten apples scattered on ground....!!.... ....Giant's true story may be !!.....We travelled in Tea gardens of Darjeeling many a Times with kids where one kilo Tea is sold @ Rs 20,000 to 40,000....but Tea resort Owners allowed us to sip best quality tea without any obligations !!....Hospitality at Kinnaur or Sangla in general shocked us a lot when I compared it with Sikkimese nd villages of Darjeeling !!........Well.......hope to visit this farm again when kids will be matured to understand what buisness and personal choices mean !!..... There is no accomodation for any driver though meals are served to a driver as complimentary .That' s a good deal for the driver. Last of all , the ray of hope was amicable and smiling Manager Mr Siv Singh Ji and little but active Kid- Staff Deepak who always echoed " ho jaye gi Sir" with smile.....!!....

Hide out camp under apple orchard Hide out camp under apple orchard

This one is the only orchard with huge trees. The tent stay is very accommodating. We three settled very easily. In afternoon one can visit near by river . In evening enjoy the campfire. In night it become real cold , they provide all necessary bedding. One can hear the river making exorbitant noice . In my stay it was raining all night. But we were warm inside. Airtel , bsnl works here. Food is great . Manager is really helpful. During stay a watch tower studio was under construction. It is made of pure wood. Ask for it the view is awesome.

I visited this place with my husband in sep 2017. I would say absolutely a no miss place. Its quiet , beautiful , service is amazing and people hospitable including Mr Negi the owner who is available at all times . Just close to the Baspa river so if you love the sound of the river flowing also you will love it .

Stayed here for a night while on a tour in the region. Not the easiest of places to find, but everything was fine. Comfy bed, with plenty of blankets and duvets to keep you warm in the tent. Very quiet and peaceful place. Food in the evening was a good selection and was tasty. Breakfast equally good. Friendly and helpful staff.
