I visited a Guest House, Basundhara Inn at Prantik, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. The Hotel is just opposite to the Prantik Railway Station. It looks beautiful from the station. The in and around of the hotel is also peaceful. This is the best hotel to stay during pous-mela on December time
Visited Santiniketan during last week of December 2015 and stayed in this hotel for 3 days.Room was clean. But the furniture viz. chairs, table and cot should be of better quality to give more value addition to the rental they charge. Now regarding food, I must say it was very nice and tasty.Hotel staff was also very courteous. You can stay in this hotel for a short tour.
This is an excellent hotel for those who wish to travel to Shantiniketan for a day or two. we took two double bedded rooms for six people, and the hotel provided separate cots, mattresses etc for the additional person in each room. each room cost 1200 rupees and was worth the money. the toilets were clean, had hot water facility. the rooms are quite large, with basic stuff like sofa set, television, cupboard etc. the hotel is not near bhubandanga, but close to gurupally, a 20 rs (per head) toto ride from bolpur station. one can walk to the visvabharati campus through quiet alleys cutting across the quaint neighbourhood. the location might be inconvenient for some, but we loved it since it was in an absolutely calm and peaceful area, with zero crowd. the hotel has a nice garden and a terrace which can be accessed. overall the service of the hotel is very good. right from online booking to calling us ahead of our visit to prepare lunch, the front desk is very professional. the boys who offer room service are also very nice and helpful. the hotel has a restaurant whose food quality is quite good, but choices are slightly limited.
I have gone to Shantiniketan for some work with the Viswa Bharati University during the first week of September, 2015. Since, the decision to visit the place was so sudden, that I had to book a hotel online through GoIbibo to save time. Hotel Basundhara is very far from the University Campus, unlike what was mentioned in the website. It is located at a very deserted place (please have one of your Area Managers visit this place for once to understand how difficult it is to commute from this hotel to anywhere in Shantiniketan). By the way, this place is not exactly in Shantiniketan. It is somewhere in the middle of Shantiniketan and Sreeniketan. Rather closer to Sreeniketan. The room was not worth paying 1,600 bucks per night. Housekeeping was absolutely filthy! Bedheets were all soiled!!! Walls had stains. I am also sharing a lunch receipt that shows how unprofessionally this place is run!! Its like eating in a roadside hotel!!
good service at bad location . on very narrow road on the both side. but close to Ashram and Sriniketan. close to High way. Having car parking , and garden inside. no out side view. food was good in all. Room service is very good.
