The service and dining/breakfst options were good. The room was quite bad, the scenery was pathetic.

My friend’s recommended this hotel and I was disappointed as the standard room had no window and there was no view from the room. The bathroom was very small. Restaurant was ok and served north Indian food. The Hotel is located in the heart of Shillong. I would recommend this hotel to others provided they go for a higher category of room than the standard room.

Worst hotel ever Worst hotel ever

by Lakshmi A on June 21, 2018

Never trust the hotel and go there for stay. It is dangerous. We booked a stay through yatra.com in this hotel 2 months in advance for a duration of 4 days (16th - 20th June, 2018). Owing to the unrest and curfew situation in Shillong, we decided to cancel the trip and thereby the stay too. We called up yatra.com team to cancel the booking 4 days prior to the scheduled start of stay in hotel. Obviously since there was a huge sum of money involved, we requested for a refund (after applicable cancellation charges) since we had to cancel the trip owing to reasons beyond our control. Yatra team said that it depends on whether or not the hotel is willing to refund and hence they can't commit unless they have contacted the hotel and got a confirmation in this regard. They said that they would revert in 24 hours after contacting the hotel. In the meanwhile, we called up the hotel subsequently just to find out if they were willing to oblige to our request for a refund. To our pleasant surprise, they did oblige (verbally at least!) and hence we wrote an email to the yatra team conveying the hotel's willingness to refund. What ensued was an ordeal, which is the very reason for this post! We had to literally call both the yatra and hotel teams one after the other nothing less than ten times over the next 5 days, simply because both teams refused to talk to each other citing references to the other party's email responses, none of which we were copied on/had seen. Apparently, yatra wrote to the hotel but hotel rejected the refund request. Hence, yatra team said that they are not permitted to call up the hotel. Hotel claimed that they didn't receive any such email and that they hadn't responded to it either. Finally, i explained that there is no point in me acting as a mediator as clearly it was just a question of 1 conversation between the 2 teams which would yield the expected result. The hotel then agreed to coordinate directly with the yatra team and sort out our issue. They even re-assured us that they had refunded the money of all customers who had cancelled their respective stay bookings at their hotel in that period. It finally reached a stage where we got a call from the hotel stating that the conversation with the yatra team went positively, and that once the hotel's GM approved of the refund request, they would drop an email to yatra and then our refund would be processed thereafter. They led us on this way for another 24 hours+ and finally on the scheduled start of stay in hotel (16th), they told us that a refund would not be possible and that we can opt for alternate dates for staying at their hotel within 3 months from now. That too they communicated this when i caught them on the telephone line off guard, on an alternate number that they had called me from just once. Prior to that, I had been trying to contact them on their regular number and there was no response for about 2 hours. I'm disgusted by their lack of transparency and honesty, and more so for their disregard towards the customer's time, efforts and money!!! I would have appreciated had they told me on Day 1 that a refund was not possible and offered me the alternative then. They clearly had no intention of providing a refund since we saw the email wherein they had rejected our refund request when yatra contacted them the first time round. Yatra communicated this rejection to us on top of that email chain and hence we got a look at it. Absolutely disgusted by the way Hotel Alpine Continental has treated us! I will go back to Shillong but I'll never choose this deceitful hotel for my stay ever again!

Good Location But Badly managed Property Good Location But Badly managed Property

by Pradeep Kumar M on June 16, 2018

We a group of 6 members checked in to this property from 03.06.2018 to 06.06.2018 and stayed in Room Nos:366 & 361.The check in was quite smooth and the front office staffs were quite customer friendly.Initially they had allotted us Room Nos.365 & 366 but after checked in to the rooms we found that in Room No:365 there was a continuous water seepage /drops from the washroom ceiling and after we lodged the complain the housekeeping department said its not repairable and on our request they changed the room and allotted us Room No:361. But to our utter dissatisfaction we found that the AC inside the room was a difunc one and on complain of the same the management did not bother to resolve the issues. After lots of deliberations they could able to provide us a stand fan instead of AC. The food they served was quite good and no complain. Its a surprise to find a pillar right in the middle of the room which is an absolute hindrance. Above all a mediocre hotel in a prime location and the cost they charge is no where comparable to the property and services they offer.

A good stay A good stay

by biswarup m on June 2, 2018

We stayed in the hotel from 26th May-27th May 2018. The hotel is a decent hotel in Shillong. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the Police Bazar, inside an alley, although it is 2 mins walking to the streets of police bazar. The hotel is in a quite locality but have no scenic view. Overall the hotel is good but we faced some issues with the hotel during our stay. Firstly the room service is appalling. We had ordered our dinner through room service at 8.50 pm but the same was not served to us till 10.30 pm in-spite of request a couple of times. Secondly, the hotel do not have a doctor on call facility. My 1.6 months son had fever and was vomiting and when asked for a doctor they referred to the nearest pharmacy to check for a doctor. Being Sunday everything in Shillong was closed. However, the gentleman in the reception was kind enough to inform us about a child hospital where we took our child about 10-12 kms away from the hotel Thirdly, the lift of the hotel needs a change/maintenance. The sensors of the lift do not work properly and the lift slams down at good speed without the sensor working. This can any day lead to an accident. Fourthly, they provide parking facility but they do not allow drivers to sleep in the car. This can be a dampener for tourists travelling in chauffer driven cars. Other than the above the rooms were good and clean. The food was also good, however the breakfast spread was limited. The hotel staffs were courteous.

Nice hotel good restaurant. Nice hotel good restaurant.
