Orchid Lake Resort

We, about 44 of our batchmates (now 50+ in age, at very senior positions in government and private companies) stayed in this beautiful resort on 15th and 16th Feb, 2020. Deepak, the manager, took very good care of us- right from allocation of room to planning the right cousine for the events. He was always there, when we need him. View is beautiful, services were great and the staffs were always ready to help with a smile. We all left with sweet memories.

On 15th and 16th of Feb,20 around 50 of our batch mates from Assam Engineering College ,1986 batch had a get together at OLR. The ambience and natural beauty in & around the OLR is mesmerizing. The hotel rooms were very clean. The service lead by Mr. Dipak was excellent. He took care of all our needs for 2 days personally. Food was also very tasty. The lawns of the hotel is very beautiful to organise games, musical evenings for a group...

Assam Engineering College 1986 batch organised a two-day get- together for around 50 alumni at Orchid Lake Resort on 15 and 16 February 2020. Rooms, food and hospitality were par excellence, making the occasion memorable.

The location is amazing and most of the rooms offer views of the lake from the Balcony itself. It is very spacious. But I think the construction of the property is old. Food was tasty and the portions were huge.

One of the oldest 'resorts'when the concept had not even stated is Orchid Lake Resort which is nestled just before reaching Shillong by the banks of Barapani. Humongous area, a big dining hall, ever smiling staff members, cosy bar, lawn for the children, swimming pool and numerous pine trees is what best describes this property. Food is terrific but they don't serve local cuisine for reasons unknown. Only a stone's throw away is the Barapani lake where you can for boating and also the children's park. Rooms have an old world charm with balconies opening to the lake if you are lucky enough to get a lake facing room. You can carry your drinks or order from the bar as well and enjoy the night in the balcony with a cool breeze which can send a chill in your spine if its winters. Overall my favourite getaway place during summers. Room rents starts from 3500 + taxes which can easily accommodate 3 people.
