Probably the best eatery near the bus stand Probably the best eatery near the bus stand

by thebackpackzombie on June 29, 2015

Have been to Shimoga for official work, stayed at Shimoga Tower Lodge for 2 days. Although we had our dinner at Hotel Bright on both the days. Usually on my every visit to Shimoga I will be eating here. Stayed here on my last visit, but as its almost peak season now we din't find any rooms available this time. Shawarma, Grilled Chicken are must have here. Avoid Chicken 65 or most fried items here, tends to be too oily. Or if you are desperate for one, ask them to make it less oily. Had also tried Chicken Biryani here, wasn't worth. Also drop by early to avoid late night rush, we had to wait 30 mins to get the parcel at 10 PM (imagine the rush). Hotel Bright is exactly opposite to the bus stand. So if you are in Shimoga and looking for a place to stay, opt for Hotel Bright > Ashok Lodge > Shimoga Tower Lodge. And for food, Hotel Ashok for vegetarians and Hotel Bright for non-vegetarians.

Well havent stayed here But am a regular to their restaurant. It the same typical muslim style restaurant with all the arab food.the only place in shimoga for Shwarma Grill chicken Lemon tea Kushka Coin parota Rumali roti Avoid the Chinese food.. it sucks. Make sure u go before 9pm as usually they run out of the grill n shwarma by them. Pretty cheap. cleanliness is just ok..u cant expect more from a hotel opp the bus stand. In short if u got a craving for the above foods and u happen to be in town just head out to hotel bright as its THE only option.
