In the midst of nature In the midst of nature

We were there in month of Jan. It was very cold. It almost snowed! The hospitality was great. Food was excellent. The owners are fabulous. They take good care of the guests by co-ordinating well with the staff. The cottage itself was very nice. Overall experience was top notch.

Quiet retreat at an excellent location! Quiet retreat at an excellent location!

Went there on a team outing on Christmas eve and had a great time. The location is really picturesque and the property is really well maintained. The food and service was good. They readily arranged a bonefire and also offered music system for us to enjoy till late in the night. If you are looking to spend some quality time away from hustle and bustle of crowded hill stations this is the place to be.

A Good Day Trip A Good Day Trip

Himgiri is a place, where i could spend a lifetime and would go over and over again. It is a perfect place for a family. The staff is friendly and more than accommodating. There are nature trails that you can take. There are some unfriendly ducks that you can look from a distance... If you are young children i would not advice you to go anywhere close to them. They look and act as if they are pissed... You should definitely call them up, before you decide to go there. There are times that the resort is empty during monsoons and they would cook only for you. Sanjeev is the manager there and he is more than helpful and would take any special requests that you might have... The drive to Himgiri is not that comfortable and there would more than a couple of times when i thought we had lost our way. It is in an obscure place and as soon as you enter you are transported to a different place. If you a problem with too much masala in your food, please tell the staff to make it less spicy. Like all medium range hotels, the chef over here also thinks that adding too much masala will make the food tasty. This is the only thing that i could point that definitely needs improvement and yes adding a tandoor. How i would have loved to eat tandoori chicken at that place. Everything set and done, i would love to go back there... Thank you for your hospitality and until we meet again...

Poetry woven in mountains Poetry woven in mountains

Meanwhile, we reached the Himgiri Nature Retreat in the evening. We were accommodated in one of the stone huts where four rooms were reserved for us. Geysers provided us with hot water and soon food was served in our rooms. The food was very good. Tired as we were, we retired for the night. In the morning what a view unfolded before us! The Retreat is spread over 12 acres and it is still in the process of being developed. It has been built in such a manner as to integrate it with the mountain side which has been excavated with military precision and the stones used to build the residences. Only a negligible amount of wood has been used for the floor and furniture. We really missed Vikas as he was deprived of this scenic beauty and the excellent food of the Retreat. In the dining hall there are two photographs, one showing the almost barren mountain side and the other of the present Retreat. I was told that the General and his wife have painstakingly planned and executed the entire work in harmony with the nature. They are also staying at the Retreat and have a beautiful house overlooking the place. Unfortunately, we could not meet them as they were away in New Delhi. But they had directed the Retreat staff to look after us properly which they, especially his two assistants Sunil and Sanjeev did. The food was wonderful. Besides meticulously planning the Retreat, Gen. Yadav and his wife have planted many trees Poplar, Pine, Spruce as well as fruit-bearing ones like apple, plum, peach, etc., besides a large varieties of flowers which have added on to its beauty. A library and a sports area have also been set up as also a mini zoo where ducks, turkeys, and peacocks keep company of the tourists with their cacophony. There is a natural spring nearby which has been brought to the Retreat kitchen and its water is very good and tasty. There is also a mountain trek route from the Retreat to the top of the mountain called View Point. A stone table and stone chairs have been built there for the viewers. Our younger group went there, prepared noodles and coffee with portable butane stove and enjoyed that while having a 360-degree view of the area and a salubrious climate.

Demo Trip Any room from Room 101 to Room 105. If you have anyone in the group who has problems climbing stairs Room 104 & 105 are the best as they are on ground floor.
