This hotel could have a lot going for it... with the almost-perfect location on marine drive, spacious rooms and a legacy formed over the years. However, the current staff is ruining most of it. The junior staff is polite but some of the senior ones are rather uptight. Almost as if they are tired of smiling at guests after so many years. While the gentlemen at front desk may not be the most polite, they at least accommodate to your requests. One particular lady (supervising Ms. Kurte) at the day shift was rude to the point of being mean. She clearly doesn't want to make her guests happy and would do exactly the opposite of what you would request. You really need to investigate her general bitterness towards guests as it's impacting your reputation. I casually chatted with a fellow guest over breakfast and he had the exact same feedback about that lady. Overall, The service is not even at par with that of a 3-star hotel, thanks to the staff. Late checkout might be allowed by an hour max, but the staff would act like they made a grand favor on you. Once you check out, they would even charge you if request for some water at the reception (really?). The rooms are not sound proof and I kept being disturbed by a phone ringing 24 by 7. I am assuming they gave me a room adjacent to their Housekeeping room or something, and the guests kept calling in, even in the middle of the night. Aside from the staff, the hotel has some good parts too. Rooms are spacious and clean, beds are really comfortable and the interiors albeit old fashioned, are fairly acceptable. The breakfast buffet spread is quite nice. You may not get strong network is your room but the hotel wifi is free and pretty good at that. Room service/Housekeeping is really quick. Wake up call was on time as requested. Despite all of this, I wouldn't return or recommend this place, unless the staff ups the customer service game. If the management does look into it, this hotel could be something else.

The room I got was sad. It did not have enough plug points.. I couldn't charge my phone! The key was a physical one and not a card. it was heavy to carry around. Worse is the TV and cable they got.. It keeps restarting itself every half hour or so.. pathetic !

The rooms desperately need renovation, as does the elevator. For the condition of the rooms & hotel, the prices are quite high. Lights don't work & the water in the tub and wash basin did not drain. asking them to fix it did not help much though they did attend to it. I guess the age of the building is the main issue. Not much money being put back into maintenance. However, the location is wonderful. Close to business area and offices so very convenient. Staff is helpful and attentive. I still remember the revolving restaurant from my childhood when this was one of the great hotels in that area.

My stay at the Ambassador Hotel in Mumbai was wonderful. Right from location to the ever helpful staff and amazing food, we had everything exactly as hoped for. Starting with the location, this hotel is located right on the Marine Drive, a viewer's treat in mornings, a blessed respite in the evenings. The locality is very clean and well kept. It is close to the major attractions of the city, like the Colaba Market, The Gateway of India, Girnaur Chowpatty Beach, etc. The staff were very helpful and always ready with useful information that makes your stay even more relaxed and enjoyable. The food was also very good. Our complimentary breakfast had good variety and all flavours were spot on! Both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes were available, along with multiple choices for beverages, breads and starters. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Ambassador and I am definitely visiting again!!

I stayed in a Deluxe room for three nights from February 26th. The location is excellent, in the Churchgate area and within walking distance of a lot of Delhi's sights. Best of all, it's a almost right next to Marine Drive, offering great views of the bay and Mumbai's skyline (which by the way is a great place to go and watch the sun set). The hotel has a great first impression. We were greeted by a very polite, smiley doorman and were led through to a very plush, sparkling lobby - all marble and glass chandeliers, with piano music playing - always a sign of a nice hotel! It also has a very reasonably priced bakery in the lobby too which my girlfriend and I utilised a couple of times. Fortunately the room matched up to the first impression - very spacious, comfy bed and a hot, powerful shower. From the outside the building looks a little bit shabby and lacks the wow factor it must have had in yesteryear and the revolving restaurant on the top floor is no longer in use, but overall a very nice hotel, perfect to escape the Mumbai madness. They also accommodated my request of an early check-in. A good experience. ps - anyone arriving in Mumbai from the international airport, make sure you don't overpay for the toll-road in to the city. The taxi driver tried to charge me 200 rupees for it, despite passing a sign that said 60.
