I can not say, this hotel is one of the best in terms of its location, appearance and style, but it is prudent in my part to say it is one of the best in terms of its service, personal touch, facilities and hospitality. I am highly satisfied with the rooms even in the harshest winter, where rooms are provided with the best of the facilities like room heater and electric blankets. Frequent power cuts does not have any effect because of well power back-up.
Only 150 mtrs walking distance from the famous Dal lake, though not facing the same gives a disturbance free atmosphere. Food quality is like home-made and awesome.
Any time I make another plan, this is my destination.
well deserved credit to Mr. Firdous, a perfect gentleman for maintaining such a hotel.
Was in Delhi for work. After too much of workload realised that I needed a break.I am happy that I zeroed on Kashmir and a journalist friend suggested bloomingdale and I took the advise.
Had a horrible day at Delhi airport as all the flights got cancelled the first day but than next day ultimately landed in Srinagar.Straightaway drove to Bloomingdale.
Modest exterior.....but the warmth starts as soon as you enter the beautifully laid reception/lobby.Had a chance to have the best ever herbal tea in a cozy and warm atmosphere. Smooth check in and I was given room 205 again warm and cozy with all the amenities required.
After relaxing came down for dinner and had a fantastic chat with Mr.Firdous (indeed gem of a person). As I had already missed one day because of flight cancellation I decided to extend my trip by a couple of days. Also planned a night in Pahalgam too.
Most of the time I just chill and relax occasionally have a walk on the banks of dal lake or have fun with snow in the lawn at bloomingdale. The room is always warm with electric blankets and a heater so that made me more lazy....just watching TV (you get almost all channels).
I had a night in Pahalgam too and stayed at a centrally heated hotel.Had a horrible night as heating did not work for almost 3 hours. I am indeed impressed of the power back up at Blooming Dale , it takes them no time to put on generator when there are power cuts so no issues with light and heating what we experienced in a star hotel in Pahalgam.
Leaving tomorrow and already have a feel of missing bloomingdale,Thanks for this pleasant and rejuvenating break which I needed badly.I must say Bloomingdale is a wonderful place to stay dine and relax.
Booked the hotel after seeing the reviews
As confirmed was given ride to hotel from airport in cabs and to my surprise mr firdous came in person to receive us it was of a nice gesture and felt like a VIP looking some one having my name board to receive me at airport
Had smooth check-in room was quite big but the whole hotel is small consists of 10 rooms
Was given with 24hrs hot water, free internet, mineral water (which was not included in package but still given special thanks to mr firdous), heaters and with electric beds to keep us warm at night
We had continental breakfast as complimentary was decent
We booked the cab through mr firdous was cheap and he guided us how to handle barging your guides and people offering slide and taxi services in places like sonamarg, gulmarg and pahalgam
He also gave the right prices for the products to buy at srinagar but didnt guide us to specific shop which made us trust him more
The food served to us was ok but the chef who made it served us in so kind, so we ended up eating at the hotel itself
At last for some tourists who are complaining about the quality of the hotel i have stayed in much big hotels (don't want to name them) comparing them yes the rooms look little old, yes it's little hard to find but the service and friendliness offered here is incomparable and hard to find in any hotel
I came here with a family of 9 with three kids below 3 years was treated the best way loved it will suggest all my relatives and friends who are planning a trip to Srinagar
After a considerable thought we decided to go to Kashmir even against the advice of friends and family. We landed in Delhi and headed to our hotel and after dinner while relaxing and watching the news we learned about the highway ambush and were really in shock and dilemma.....than my husband decided to call blooming dale.
Mr.Firdos was the person who responded and deliberated the situation very honestly. What a pleasure to talk to this man and we decided to go with the plan and while writing this post we are so pleased that we did decide for.
Landing at Srinagar airport again a bit scared seeing many men in uniform we came out of the terminal and found a guy holding a welcoming placed with our name. While talking to Mr.Firdos from Delhi he was kind enough to offer a complimentary pick up and looking at the placard we started feeling comfortable.
Drove to Blooming Dale and were surprised by huge traffic on the road from airport to city as we expected very little transport around it was a pleasant surprise.
People have wrote a lot about Mr.Firdos in the past so perhaps I may not do justice describing this amazing personality. He is Simply a jewel in Kashmir`s Crown.
Blooming Dale is located appx. 3-4 mints walk from Dal lake (gate:2). Entrance though a beautifully carved door into the CUTE lobby again with elegant wood work and cozy warm with heating. As mentioned by others Mr.Firdos gives you a warm welcome and you start thinking hey I know this guy for generations, and you start feeling safe, secure and very comfortable.
He is strictly professional and knows his boundaries while providing the service to hist guests so one always feels comfortable with him and his hospitality.
Rooms are good with comfortable beds ,neat and clean lenin and exquisite warm soft blankets and nice heater to make the room warm and of course the electric blanket is super.Super clean baths and hot water for 24 hrs was indeed a luxury. Room stuffed with toiletries and super dazzling white towels. We were provided one of the ground floor rooms which was spacious and warm even in the freezing nights.
Always alert cook cum housekeeper would serve us with delicious Kashmir cuisine which was mostly mutton(soft lamb).First day we ordered plain and non spicy as we had a bead experience in Delhi. One evening he suggested kashmir food ....and surprisingly it was to be spicy (and pleasant yellowish red) but not what we imagined (mouth burning as we had in Delhi) . Then we always at Blooming Dale and would take the choice of the cook.We would not stop till we finished the delicious dishes..in a warm and cozy little dinning room.
Most of the days we would usually walk around Srinagar however we had one day trip to Gulmarg as was suggested by Mr.Firdous. On reaching Gulmarg we were disappointed not to see the cable car operating. But we were thoroughly briefed by Mr.Firdos what ?? in case the gondola is not operational so we followed his directions and explored Gulmarg more than what we would have done with the gondola ride. Each tip Mr.Firdos gave was so practical, accurate and informative that we ended up exploring the mesmerizing Gulmarg to the best of it..........but sadly no snow this time.
It was a sad moment leaving Blooming Dale back to Delhi for Rajasthan tour and suddenly we realized how attached we got to this wonderful place and the wonderful people just in 6 days.
Thanks Blooming Dale and Mr.Firdos, shall see you soon again for sure along with friends who are already eager (after seeing my posts on social media) to see you and Kashmir.
As promised (by you) please inform us as soon as it snows.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of the tourist season. Our well lighted, carpeted, corner room # 206 had a western view over the 20m by 30m garden and a northern view over another hotel's larger garden. Our room had a firm king bed(electric blanket, sheet and several soft blankets), a small night stand, dresser, table with 2 chairs, table, small flat screen with satellite CNN/BBC International, English movies, etc, and outfitted bathroom with its own water heater and open shower. Being late in the season, we requested the small supplemental room heater.
Cook/caretaker, Mira, prepared our 8AM breakfast; paratha, boiled eggs, toast and coffee, our daily 1PM lunch: rice, vegetables, dal, curd, and tea, tailoring all preparations to our Western tastes. We were also provided mineral water, bananas, and apples.
Owner/manager, Firdaus Bahi, speaks excellent English, grew up in Srinagar, and worked in Switzerland to learn about accommodating guests. He made our airport transfers($8 each), was our driver/guide to Shankrachanja Hill, Mughal Gardens($20), Old City Mosques($10), and led two 8km walks through Srinagar; parks, canals, downtown, and along Jhelum River. While his 10 room facility adequately met our need for a value stay, his kind personality, intimate local and Kashmir knowledge, and physical exuberance exceeded our expectations. His ability to negotiate with the locals and the Indian Army gained our admission to several closed sights, making our visit in this troubled time most memorable.
