My family and I were planning our year end vacation from 03 - 12Dec . They were keen to go Kashmir. I have been earlier this year in Feb as well. However with the recent unrest we contemplated and thought hard. I liased with Mr Amir and he assured us of our safety and told me that normalcy was getting back.We considered Himachal and Rajasthan but finally we decided to go ahead with Kashmir. On arriving in Kashmir, we did not face any problem right from immigration till end of our trip. Mr Amir was there to pick us up from Airport as he was aware of our concern caused by the unrest. Some problem occurred on money availability due to the demonetisation.Fortunately Mr Amir got that sorted for us. Another was our flight AI got cancelled ex Sri Nagar on 09Dec due bad weather. We had to leave Sri Nagar on that day itself for Amritsar. Thanks to Mr Amir ,very quickly he made arrangements for us to go by road . We had to travel through Jammu and we actually got to experience a beautiful journey through mountains. It was such a pretty sight on the night. All travel arrangements were well made and our driver was very commendable. All tourists areas seem perfectly safe . It is a pity due to this unrest, common people's livelihood has been affected. People have been without jobs for lasts 5 months or so. Inspite of all that turmoil, Kashmiri people still serve tourists with a smile. They are very warm and polite. Personally I felt safer in Kashmir than I would probably in some other states in India. If anyone wants to go Kashmir and has been deterred by the unrest. My suggestion is you should go ahead. Irregardless of all that has been happening or said Kashmir is still the Paradise on Earth. If there is an opportunity I would certainly go again in a different season and explore other unseen areas. Would also like to thank the management and staff of New Sherin for all their hospitality and for taking good care of us.
