we did not get what we were offered and the houseboat booking was not there so we return back on 20th of may instead 23rd, i am going to sue travelguru for this as our hotel booking was not there and we are going to take a legal action against this so better be prepare for this.
Warm Welcome: After a pleasant stay at pahalgam, i was eager to see the summer capital of J&K, Srinagar. As i entered the town i did not see any beauty that i had left behind in pahalgam. I was really disappointed and just thought what lies ahead for me. The Peacock resort of Houseboats that i had booked had address of Nagin/Nigeen lake. Upon my search i landed in small lane with board of gevernment water sports, Nigeen lake. the path to my destination was through famous Shikara and my moment of joy was regained after few minutes of shikara ride. I was back in beauty of nature awaiting WATS next? The warm welcome by hotel manager Bashir will be surely my memories in future. He made sure he guided me till my room and i was comfortable. the housebout has all the comfort and beauty and cleanliness that i desired and paid for :-) Guidance:- After a cup of fantastic welcome tea with some pakoras i asked for guidance to travel the city. his quick reply was " You always travelk by road and vehicles, but since you are in kashmir enjoy the beauty by shikara rides by travelling to various points and floating market of Dal lake. and i do not regret accepting his advice as those 8 hours of shikara ride were most pleasant remembrance. Food n Service: The expectations were high and the poor food and service took away al the fun during dinner. Regular food with no local dishes. Even the service was slow and non attentive. Overall: I would rate it 6 on scale of 10. Not to blame the room, cleanliness but all blame to food and service.
There are at least five Peacock Houseboats owned by the same person on the Nigeen Lake in Srinagar. We stayed in one of them. These houseboats are located in a serene environment where you can have a good view of the hills and rainbows after a rain. Having said that, we must report some of the major problems which we faced in this houseboat. There was no TV service due to poor electricity supply. On the first day, we had mostly power cuts, and low voltage. The next day, the voltage was so low that we could not charge our mobile phones. There was a problem of getting hot water also. Finally, on the third day, after a lot of unpleasant exchanges, electricity was restored. There was no Wi-fi or internet service as claimed on the website of these houseboats. The most unpleasant thing happened on the final day when the owner of the houseboat asked us to leave at 9:30 AM in the morning because another party would come. We do not recommend this houseboat to anybody.
We were expecting value for money but disappointed as the host not even bothered to discuss with us and fix the petty problems.During our stay the only T.V.of the houseboat could not be started.Food quality was also not up to the mark and we have to skip the meals served by them.I personally would not recommend this houseboat to anybody who wants to enjoy his holiday.I have seen many good reviews of the houseboat prior to booking but the fact is very much frustrating.I like to advice those who want to book the houseboat to think many times before booking a houseboat at nigeen lake as the lake is
It was a nice experience to stay in the houseboat. But there is scope for improvement in the quality of room. Size of deluxe double room is no different from the deluxe room. Two beds placed in that room were different drastically, making it unpleasant to the eye the moment you enter the room. Bed sheets were shabby.

It was during the peak winter season that we planned our visit to Srinagar, as we wanted to experience the feel of Kashmir with snowfall. Had originally planned on a one night stay at Peacock Houseboats, but due to the heavy snowfall (just what we wanted,) we had to extend our stay to five nights (during which we also visited Gulmarg and Pahalgam.) Not only are the Peacock Houseboats "the" epitome of what an houseboat experience ought to be, but they are very well maintained, too. The service is "par" excellence. I have to mention one Mr. Mushtaq who took very good care of us and so did Mr. Tanveer. Everything that we needed was paid heed to (sometimes, even without asking.) It is rare to find such a level of hospitality and service, especially in the extreme weather that we were staying in. They even arranged for a car when we needed one for sightseeing in Srinagar and our one day visit to Gulmarg & Pahalgam. I wouldn't be wrong in saying that they actually went out of their way to help us in every which way they could. The decor of the Houseboat too, had an old world feel, which almost disconnected us from our ever "connected" lives and gave us a calm and serene sense of being. And, experiencing heavy snowfall, during our stay, was like "icing" on an already awesome cake. Words fail me to describe the overall experience that Peacock Houseboats gave us during our stay from the 15th to the 20th of Jan, 2017. I would surely recommend this houseboat to anyone who wants to have a firsthand experience of the same.
my husband and i together with a friend of ours recently stayed in peacock houseboat from 3 january - 6 january 2017. It was such an amazing experience for us and we left kashmir with nothing but fond memories that will last us a lifetime. Mr Bashir was such a wonderful man who helped us a lot when our flights were cancelled and delayed for a few days. He went above and beyond to get us a flight out as soon as possible and welcomed us with open arms. He was like a father figure to us and is truly an amazing man. Our houseboy, Farooq, and also our driver, Mushtaq, were really nice people and they became more than just friends. Overall, I have to say there is nothing to complain about because we truly enjoyed our kashmir trip and our stay in peacock houseboats!
We stayed at Peacock Houseboats for one day, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, because of the beautiful surroundings, great weather and well maintained ambiance in the houseboat. The house boat interiors were good and overall exceeded our expectations. However, the food was just about okay and the service person was a bit hostile (well, just like many other Kashmiri people :P)-- He was behaving as if he was doing us a favor by providing a good service. The owner (senior person there) was good and talked to us in a friendly manner, though. Note: One has to go by a boat from "ghat1" to reach the houseboat, so, one should not plan to go out in the city before checkout.
Peacock Houseboat arranged a tour for a group of 6 of us from 11DEC16 to 14DEC16. We were very well taken care by the owner, Mr Bashir and his son, Mr Rahil Ahmad. The stay was good with good hospitality. Mr Bashir's staff also served us well. The price were fair and we enjoyed the entire tour. Thank you Mr Bashir, Rahil & team. We will be back soon. Location of the houseboat is suitable to some and not suitable to some. Very remote location. Silent location. The representative is OK. They don't provide room heating facility in day. U have to pay for it. Food is average. Can control outside shop vendors to boat house.
