Good hotel, very nicely located, friendly, efficient staff. But the restaurant attached is inadequate and one will have to wait and fight for his seat during peak hours. Food is costly for the service.

A large, modern-looking hotel with a Chinese feel and good sized rooms. Helpful and pleasant staff at Reception and in the attached Restaurant (we went to the non-veg restaurant, but there is a separate vegetarian one as well). We ate at the hotel every night as we didn't find a promising alternative close by, and enjoyed all our meals over three nights. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms clean, Wifi works, breakfast excellent. The rooms at the front might be quite noisy as they face the road and a row of shops and stalls but if you like to watch India going by, the front is actually a good choice. We had a room at the back which was quiet and we slept well. The location is good for the utterly unmissable temple (about 15 minutes' walk or a short auto-rickshaw ride) and also for the palace. One disconcerting annoyance: the beds slipped away from the wall in our room when we sat up in bed. They don't seem to be joined to the headboard! This is a small quibble in a hotel that was comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The Chinese music playing everywhere is also a little odd. Note: There is a lift to upper floors but I can't recall if there is wheelchair access at the front. There are stairs at the entrance.

My brother and I travelled from Madurai to Thanjavur by car, we planned a 2 night stay at Hotel Gnanam. Brother was feeling cold on the journey. Unfortunately he became ill on the first night, the management responded by contacting a doctor to visit the hotel. During the night my brother took a turn for the worse. The hotel were very swift in assisting me and called an ambulance to transport us to the hospital. My brother was admitted to the ICU, I had to remain in the hospital. The hotel were fantastic by way of visiting me and sending food and cold water while I was waiting in the hospital. I can not thank them enough for the compassion and assistance they gave us. The housekeeping staff were fantastic along with Management / front desk / kitchen, in fact everyone of the employees. The management came to visit me at the hospital and after asking how my brother was doing they gave us free accommodation all inclusive when my brother was discharged from hospital. What can one say? Thank you, Thank you! I will point out that my brothers illness was nothing to do with the Hotel, but something he picked up earlier in our travels. That's the staff praised. Good size room and very clean , A/C brilliant, Staff fantastic, Good clean shower room. Room service very quick and efficient. Could do with a small refrigerator. in room for cold water Great location for the Temple etc Will make a point of returning on our next visit to Thanjavur

Our Group reached at Thanjavur to perform classical dance at Thanjavur Bruhadeeswara Temple. Our accomodation was Hotel Gnanam.. considerable hotel to stay....good hospitality and hygenic hotel. some distance to temple to hotel.. transportation facilities also were there.

It is a famous hotel in Thanjavur always crowded.Friendly staff. Hazel free check in.The hotel is getting old.Hot water is not coming in the early morning( 0530am).We booked for three.They provide extra bed but proper sheets were not provided.The complementary break fast spread is good.I had a plan of starting early to go to Thirukollikadu but my wife and daughter insisted that we must have the quality complementary break fast provided by the hotel.The break fast last long till we reach Nagapattinam,MGM hotel for the lunch.

The room was clean and comfortable, if a bit basic. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Good a/c in the room, but no a/c in the common areas. A LOT of noise from traffic until about 9pm, so probably best to get a room at the back if possible.

Demo Trip Guess hotel's corner suites are large with proper bathrooms. One should book rooms away from the road facing if possible.
