the worst stay ever the worst stay ever

by Mys3 on March 23, 2017

We stayed in february.i booked three room. we arrived at 9 + at night. when we checked in room not ready yet, had clearly stated we will be checking in late. We were told to wait 15 minute. The hotel was not full as not many vehicle park outside according to our driver. I have clearly stated non smoking room and double bed. but all 3 rooms provided was smoking and twin bed. When i called the receptionist, he said all other room fully booked and said twin bed is doubled bed. This is the first time i heard something absurd. . He told me other rooms with double bed is reserved for some white tourist whom made reservation in the morning. I told i had reserved several months ago and this is the reply you are giving me. I was so very angry , i am also tourist from different country.I have a little toddler with me n he expect me to sleep on a twin bed, which was kept separated . I was not happy so i called for the manager. He told manager was away n will be back after 1.5 hour. I firmly told i want to speak to manager. About 5 minutes later, he said he is preparing a double bed room for me. Suddenly there was an empty room! We waited about 20 minute and brought to the new room. On the same floor we saw so many empty room kept open maybe for cleaning. Yes , only good thing bed was double, but room was not swept and dusty. The bed had hair from previous occupant i guess.Bathroom was filthy.Bath tub had hairs from previous occupant. There was poop stain on the toilet bowl and they have put a paper telling toilet bowl was sanitised. What a big lie. Is this the quality of a four star hotel. I booked this hotel because of some good reviews. Because was late, we just stayed in. Anyways we were staying for only one night . Break fast spread was ok.The manager at the restaurant was extremely friendly. The only bright side of this hotel. We didn't use the swimming pool. We will be coming back to tanjore but will never stay in this hotel.

Ticks all the boxes Ticks all the boxes

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the cultural and religious monuments in Thanjavur and to the railway station, which was an easy 10-minute walk away. We had reserved in advance, but they still seemed surprised to see us and asked us to pay for our first night up-front. [Maybe they think anyone who arrives on foot is a bit dodgy?] Once installed, we quite liked the place: there was plenty of hot water in the shower; the wifi worked immediately; there were omelettes-to-order for breakfast and even a quirky, hole-in-the wall bar tucked away in the basement. [The friendly barman switched the TV to BBC World and served us 'British Empire' beer, which was a nice touch!] After exhausting ourselves visiting the amazing palace and its various museums it was great to relax by the pool in the afternoon. And all this for around US$50 per night. Some of the other, more critical, reviewers presumably thought they had checked into a Taj or an Oberoi property; but this place met all our requirements and offered solid value for money.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the hotel has very charming decor, and the room was beautiful as well. We had a very comfortable stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Bit disappointed Bit disappointed

by INDIAN_TRAVEL_GUY on February 25, 2017

We had high expectation from this hotel after reading the reviews but we were bit disappointed on our stay here. First of all the room was not clean when we checked in. We had to call housekeeping several times during our stay but they were too slow to attend. I guess they are short staffed. No hot water on our arrival. The bathroom fitting was not proper, had issues. We had tough time dealing with all these issues. Breakfast was very good. Food rates are a bit on the higher side. Good Parking. Nearer to railway station.

Thali and surrounding Thali and surrounding

by Gopinath P on February 21, 2017

We had visited the restaurant Les Repas during my visit to my hometown. The Thali meals was of good value, ranging from soup starters to the fruit salad ice cream. They also had a baby chair to accommodate our young toddler. Waiters were friendly and offered the best choices in the menu for dining. They also have a large pool area surrounded with a lush garden which was ideal for relaxation. Looking forward to visit again in the future.
