Good view and Good Service Good view and Good Service

by Travel_Gig007 on August 12, 2016

The owner Prashant is very good and co-operative. I went there when he had renovated the tents. The place is good it has average to good food. People serving you are also good and co-operative. The view from the tents is very good and mesmerizing, we enjoyed our stay even though it was raining heavily. We had got a free 1 hour boat ride. The place has facility for born fire and also has carron, volleyball, Badminton facility. We had requested them to play DJ @ night and they made arrangements of speaker. All my family enjoyed and even kids enjoyed the place. The also provide equipment's for kayaking. Talking about Tapola, it is a great place we enjoyed the beauty of Tapola not only while driving but also while staying there.

Tapola is 30 KMs from the popular tourist filled hill station of Mahabalesshwar. It is named after the lake that surrounds the hills and trust me you will feel like you are in Scotland when you see Tapola from the hills. And here in Tapola is where Tapola River Camp is situated along the lake. There are many jungle camps but no resorts in Tapola and you will find many on the net named like Tapola River Camp, Tapola Jungle Camp, Koyna Agro Tourism and River Camp, Koyna River Camp, Tapola Agro Camp...well guys all of them are same and this I came to know after we got here :-) Booking was done by calling the owner and he gave all the information about stay, facilities and food, all of which was an honest assessment of the property. Only issue we faced was we told him that we would be coming here from Kaas Plateau and he said it is around 30KM's or an hours drive. In reality it was almost 60-70 KMs and 3 hours drive from Kaas. Ours was the only car on that lonely road both ways at night, no road directions, no network so it was really very horrifying. When we reached the owner said he said 70 KMs only which is kinda of a poker face lying. But the overall surroundings and rustic look of the camp made us forgot the journey. Once we got here we were given rooms which were pretty basic tents, clean beds, no insects which is what we expect. Toilet could have been better and there was a huge from in bucket but again this is a jungle camp and is acceptable. Staff was nice and helpful, even renting us a phone so that we can call home. Food was nice and homely. Next day they allowed us kayaking in the lake at very affordable rates. The lake is fantastic, the equipments are good. A good experience all in all. Suggestions Have eggs in Breakfast Have Chicken at Lunch, make it extra payable Make sure guests dont litter near the lake

Wonderful break from the hustle bustle of the city, being away from Mahabaleshwar town. It had already become dark when we were trying to reach there, hence had some trouble locating it. Next day we woke up early and went to the lakeside which was covered in mist. Maybe this is why this place is called mini kashmir. Then we walked on a trail behind the camp site, following sound of peacocks which we never saw... seems need to take the peacock trail close to sunrise. And we did a round of speed boat post breakfast. There was hardly any phone signal at the camp site.. but for a 24 hours stay it was perfectly acceptable. The Tapola river camp facilities are basic but it blends with nature perfectly. While returning, the drive itself was breathtaking with koyna backwaters on one side and steep hill sides on the other. It was spine chilling to think we drove on the same roads the previous night. A place to visit again.

This property is situated where you can explore the scenic beauty nestled amidst forests and hills. We reached the tents and soon after sumptuous lunch our next activities begun .Resort is located opposite to the lake.We started with water sport followed by kayaking in backwaters . Towards the evening bonfire was organized by the resort along with music. Dinner was average. Tents were clean and hot water facility was there .Overall it was a good experience .

Awesome location - good proximity to lake and well managed boating services on the lake. Food for 1st 2 days was really good. But we were made to wait endlessly for our breakfast on the last morning of checkout and the quality of breakfast (misal) was bad. Also, they didn't provision anything for kids although we were the only family that time in the resort and they were aware we had many kids. They did later make a kid friendly item on request though. On the tents, they are average. Hot water is a BIG problem, takes time before you get it in the room. Second, bathrooms need maintenance - they had broken basins, leaking pipes in some of the tents. Worst was there were no working light bulbs in many bathrooms and they had to come and install them once we checked in. Service was hospitable but not very prompt. They had to be told to change bedsheets and clean the room on 2nd day, and that too it happened late in the night just before bedtime. This is basic service one can expect for continuous stay. Overall the place is really good wind down from city life - there is no cellphone coverage (except BSNL) and you can easily get lost reaching there. Ideal for large groups/families - not much for smaller family trips.
