Lake Palace KTDC

This place is ideal for anyone who's looking for a relaxing getaway with a scenic view and comfortable services. With no network in the vicinity, you can wake up to the sounds of chirping birds, rustling leaves, and gentle breeze. The view of lake and the forest overlooking the room and the view of the animals grazing is something you cannot get anywhere else. The staff members and manager at Lake palace are courteous, and the food is delicious. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wish for an escape with their loved ones.

The only place you get to experience the wild life at the comfort of a five star resort. Located in the middle of the forest make it even more special. Service is excellent as they will cook as per your requirement. The memories of having a morning cup of tea sitting in the lawn and watching the elephants take a dip will be with me for ever.

I stayed there in 2002 had the bestest time for two nights having a gin & tonic on the lawn watching the elephants with their baby come drink water watched an osprey catch a huge fish and all the other wildlife was amazing as was the accommodation. Hoping to go again this year so hope l can get a booking!

Nice place in the middle of the forest. Good chance of spotting elephants. Can stay for one night. The property is small with 6 cottages. Nothing much to do except stare at the beautiful nature and periyar river!! As you are on an island and you have to depend on a boat to access the mainland. The boat is available at specific timing only. However the property is well maintained and the staff are very responsive. Only bsnl mobile works. Hotel staff will provide a common mobile for emergency use. Food menu is very limited and fixed. The food taste is average but not bad. During check in make sure you don't miss the 3.45pm boat which is the last one for the day!! After that you cannot access the island!! Parking facility available at Aranya nivas (boat pick up point).

Lake Palace is probably the most understated property I have ever come across in the entire Kerala. Hidden in the depth of the forest and on the tip of a peninsula on a small island on the Periyar lake; only accessible by boat, this resort is straight out of a picture book. Nights are amazingly quiet with sparkling stars and glowing fireflies for company. This property is not a hotel, it is an experience like none other. It is highly personalized as there are only eight rooms and hardly twenty guest max in the entire property, it almost felt like being on a personal island. The food is absolutely wonderful and homelike. The whole resort functions on the principles of being responsible towards environment especially where wastage of food, water, other resources and garbage is concerned. They keep the resort lifestyle as minimalistic as possible and encourage and educate guest about the same. The rooms are sufficiently spacious for a family of two adults and one child. The furniture and design is gorgeous and very well maintained. Just a word or two of caution. Firstly for those who are not fond of or not familiar with Kerala cuisine, please speak with the resort staff for alternatives before you arrive. Secondly, once you arrive, there is no contact with the outer world. There is very little to do inside the premises. So carry all your essential medicines and essentials and most important some company for yourself if you are not comfortable with silence. If you are holidaying with kids, carry board games, colours and some ideas to keep them entertained. Thank you KTDC Lake Palace for such a amazing experience.
